Up here in the frozen North it would appear as though tomorrow is going to be a dry sunny day with the promise of dry, salt free roads. It also perfectly aligns with a lunchtime finish from work. cloud9

Thing is, the big bike is still sorn and March 1st is only 3 days away.

The tight northerner in me begrudges paying for a full month's road tax for the sake of 3 days potential riding though.

But then the mad mile is only a few hundred yards from my house and the lure of the 1st WOT through all the gears on a litre bike in 6 months is too hard to resist.

Sensible, tight me says = Just wait a few days and go ride your 125 instead.

The really sensible part of me says - F**k it, just tax it you little wussy bh.

I went out today, first time in Months, cbr600fx, I did about 40 miles after doing a few chores for the Mrs, I'm sheilded so it was a bit of a change for my current norm
Even think I may have done a power wheelie completely unexpected and I was straight into another gear so I didn't do it again,
So to summerise get out there

If it's not been ridden all winter you could give a service and a good clean rather than going for a ride to get your sunny afternoon bike fix.

Or just tax it you skinflint biggrin

Waaaaay ahead of you. Its serviced, cleaner than Kim and Aggies Armitage Shanks and sat on paddock stands ready to roll.

The mad thing is, I'm not even that much of a skinflint under normal circumstances, I just don't want to give the gubberment more money than I have to.

Just book an MOT at the other end of your ride?
That'll save you taxing it.

Lightweights! I've used mine all winter. Even made a point to take it out when it was snowing!

Ooh you hero......!

Don't see the point myself, its warm and dry in the car with its all season tyres on I'm unlikely to have a stupid accident.

Will hopefully get out tomorrow or Sat myself, I'm not making up any reason to justify it to anyone I'm just going out on my bike.

I was out last Saturday and Sunday with Paul, he's got a MT 10 like mine now.

Weather is supposed to be good this weekend so I'll be out again, I even changed the oil and filter tonight, anyway, looks like I may be able to drag the OP for when we have a run out. I think he's gonna have a run out with me on my roads first.

OP, just get out, if you get stopped just say I said it was OK.

Spend the £8. Otherwise you're risking being spotted by an ANPR-equipped police patrol, and they have a simple pretext to stop you. They can't stop every vehicle they see, but you'll stand out from the crowd. That conversation might easily then extend to the essential purpose of your journey etc.

Aye I'm still up for a ride out sometime too.

As long as the roads are dry once I'm finished work I'm going to have a ride out, if they are damp I'll just take the 125 as I can't be arsed with getting the big bike shi**ed up and having to clean that bugger down again.

I think someone mentioned something about getting nabbed by ANPR? I wasn't suggesting going out with the bike untaxed it will definitely be taxed before I head out.

Are you northerners really that tight!?!?

Just bloody tax it and get out and enjoy it, if I had the opportunity to ride this weekend I’d happily pay £8 for the privilege.

8 quid is 8 quid thats like a packet of tabs or 15 cans of cheap larger.

Sheesh. You southerners must be rolling in cash.

You'll spend more on fuel during the ride plus cleaning products afterwards.

Get it taxed and get out there bounce

Alright alright. The tight shaming has worked.

Bike is taxed and only 2 and half hours till I knock off work.

Totally.

Made it out for a few hours, called in to get the suspension tweaked after having a set of K-tech springs fitted the other week and it was pointed out that my numberplate was no longer there!
No idea where it had fallen off at? But I never spotted it at the side of the road on the way home.
