Hi I am looking for a school that can provide training up to CBT in the not too distant future. The company i had booked with seem to have suffered during lockdown they have have lost staff and are struggling to restart.

Many thanks

Where are you located? Might be someone local on here who knows.

Alternatively, check/ask on Google, local Facebook groups, local paper etc.

Before you abandon them, they might be struggling to re-start as they are not allowed to! I think current guidance is "29 March at the earliest".

When CBTs are allowed I expect every school will be booked solid for months due to the backlog from all the months closed. So if you have a booking don't lose your place in the queue. Or as you infer, lockdown may have been the death of them...

Sorry I don't know anywhere local to you.

I did mine with Streetbike (Halesowen) back in 2017.

Excellent form to do training with, I then went on to full licence with them.

Say hello to Mick if you do choose them. Proper grumpy but funny instructor (and very good )

Mrs and I did our CBT at Riders in Yardley (Birmingham) and it was a shoddy experience with 1 instructor and 1 bike between 4 people. Would not recommend.

On the flip side, we did our Full License Training with CAM Rider in Warwick, that was good and I'd recommend them if you're relatively local.

The midlands is a big region. Shires in Leicester or Nottingham are good, Roadcraft in Nottingham put out some great youtube videos so they might be worth checking out.

I’ve always fancied training people how to ride. Not necessarily as a full time job but perhaps at weekends. I wonder what certification you need?

Another vote for Open road in Bromsgrove. As mentioned above, they are above Sutton Honda and the owner Leigh is a top bloke.
I did my direct access through them with a mate.I did my cbt with Streetbike, but their groups are huge,so you may want a smaller set up,such as o.r.

He pulled out a 2nd bike for the road ride. We had to go in pairs while the other pair sat at HQ waiting. I think we clocked something like 50-60mins on the road ride in order to get both pairs done.

Naughty - Road ride must be a minimum of 2 hours.

4 students to an instructor is allowed (2 for the road ride) but I've never heard of having to share a bike.

No personal experience but I also know people who used CAMRider in Warwick and the general consensus is that they are a good outfit.

I also recommend Open Road. Passed first time for my direct access with them 3 years ago. Absolutely brilliant experience with them. Leigh was great and Nick's a brilliant instructor. Wish I'd done my cbt with them instead of another school where the instructor basically just shouted at me for most of the day.

Open Road in Bromsgrove (based on top of the Honda Bike Dealer). They're a Honda Approved school if that makes any difference.

I did mine there and passed first time, despite never even riding a motorbike before. I can say that the instructors are top class, very patient and I'll be booking with them as soon as I can, since my CBT has run out again. They benefit of having quite a few new CBF125 and PCX125 models available for training, but expect them to be fully booked for a while (they had long waiting lists before lockdown)
I used Open Road too, was 10 years ago, but great guys, nice setup and passed CBT and Direct Access first time. I knew how to ride a motorbike before Imisspent youth) wink , I do a lot of MTB (bike control) and have been a car driver so knowledgeable of highway code etc. Open Road were great, did my CBT with them passed. I wanted to go further so they assessed my riding for Direct access, they said I only needed a couple of lessons to familiarise with the format of the tests - which I did, and passed all elements of Direct Access 1st time. I really appreciated their honesty in saying what training I actually needed. Been enjoying bikes all over the world since smile Thanks OpenRoad
