Wondering if anyone has had one of these.

I've been offered it as part payment for a car I'm selling. The guy recons its worth around £6k but I can't confirm as can't find any for sale. It's identical to this one and looks to be in as good condition only its 1979 with slightly higher miles.

Have you researched Phil Read Replica - earlier, Red ones were better known as that.

I think your model (if white) was the continuation probably after PR fell out with Honda - he had a habit of doing that but quite a character.

I’ve got one, the blue and white version.

Basically, they were official Honda bikes but converted with Sealey seat unit and fairings. The Phil Read replica was the same bike just done in Read colours, they’ve been popular for years, the Honda Britain version less so, but I know what’s rarer! I’ve never seen another blue and white one in the flesh and there’s only a few pics of them on the net.
6.5k worth.....unless it is a proper stter and or with dubious history etc, hell yeah. Nice nick, rideable, all running nice etc, near 9k to 10k IMO.

Btw, they ride really well, my favourite of the classic bikes I’ve got. Compared to early 750s with drum brakes and spoked wheels, it’s like a different planet!
I’m pretty sure the non Phil Read ones should have a sealey exhaust, 4 into 1, like a reverse megaphone can, in chrome. At least mine does!

Yup, its got that exhaust and it does sound bloody good. It's seen regular use over the last month or so from the guy I got it off. Need to recoup the money so I've put it straight on eBay to see if I get the £6k it owes me. Hopefully you're right and it gets closer to 9.

I had a massive "Honda Poster" of one of those on my bedroom wall as a teenager (I got it from the local Honda dealer when they finally sold the one that had been bolted in the showroom window) haven't seen one in the flesh for years

GLWTS

I think that might get snapped up quite quickly as a classified add - as an auction might go a bit higher

That's a bargain! Such a nice rideable bike, lots of character, stop and setter well, and rare as a rare thing. As a rideable classic, that should fly away!

Henry Cole dug one of these out from a garden a while back, if you can find the TV programme there were loads of hints as to how to verify a genuine one.

His was a Phil read i think and he then used a "parts bike" to make it good.

I think the Phil read used a different exhaust, but the Seeley one on these is excellent. Real high quality based on other stuff frmo the day.
