Leon Hassan is the top Honda, so that's some good news.

How cringe worthy is the new intro with all the riders trying to look tough and doing their moves? Who comes up this st?! laugh

Watching the first race now.

Never really followed it, is it worth the £70 videopass?

If you are a rabid Johnny Rea fan maybe.

Eurosport Pass is £40 for a year. They ran an offer a few months back at £20 for the year. For this round they covered FP1, FP2 and all the races so assume they'll be providing the same coverage for the other rounds.

I watch it on Eurosport that comes part of my Virgin sub.

I'm not sure I'd pay for it on its own. As much as I enjoy it, it's behind BSB and MotoGP.

Maybe they should peg Rea back a few more revs scratchchin

If you pegged back Rea a few Revs, you would need to do the same to all Kawasaki’s. On the basis he has always had particularly strong team mates in Sykes, Haslam and now Lowes that he has consistently won against, his continual winning is clearly down to bring a superior rider.

I don't think he was ever offered a competitive bike. Took him long enough to get off the Fireblade in WSBK and on to a good package.

A dead series for washed up GP riders and Brits with nowhere else to go, a shame when you consider the heyday of SBK racing in the 90's and early 00's

Rea is a big fish in a tiny pond, he is obviously a GP quality rider but did not ever want to push himself to get there, he was offered a ride the year after his wild card for Stoner, but he was only interested in a factory bike, not the production bike he was offered, you can sort of see his point but he was not a proven GP rider, and was only really doing good things on a poor bike in WSB, so Honda said no thanks bye, we have plenty of others who will take that ride, so his GP career was gone, in favour of easy wins and titles against no real opposition at his level in SBK, and obviously a sizeable pay packet.

BUT, does anyone here think he is the best Brit racing currently? Of course, better than Smith, Cal, any of them, why he did not just take the hit for a year on a poor bike, I will never know, loads of riders did it, abut he did the same as Eugene, made a name for himself and took easier results and more money instead of the graft of GP racing. And let me say one thing, do you not think Rea is better than say Petrucci, a guy who worked his arse off on crap bikes to make his way and eventually signed for the Ducat factory and won two GP's?

And I might also say the amount of stuff rea is always saying in the media, you get the impression he knows he made a mistake in not taking a GP contract when it was offered as he is more than good enough to have been a factory rider for years in that paddock.

Jeez. It's only been one race! Was quite a good dice for 2nd between Toprak (stoppie king), Lowes, Davies at the end.

If anyone should go to GP now it's Toprak.

It's a shame they skipped Philip Island this year.

I’d say he’s not at Cal’s level, or Bradley’s tbh. No doubt he’s done brilliantly but it is the lower tier. At the end of his career I would have thought he would regret not stepping up, but obviously it’s enough doing what he’s doing.

Re rea's gp media comments , how have you concluded he thinks he made a mistake not going to gp ?

Everything I've read from his been him saying he's got a family to support and he's not a charity so not interested in riding in gp for fk all money.

Good to see Redding finally make the correct tyre choice today .

I quite like WSBK, but agree Rea does need a rival to make it more interesting.
It will be interesting to see if Redding can be more consistent this year with a season at all the tracks behind him.

Davies made some interesting comments about Ducati not having done enough to progress over the winter cause they are prioritising MotoGP...

About rea, I have read numerous quotes from him putting down GP a bit, or certain riders, about how the times are similar etc.

I think he knows he missed the boat, and did so for slightly egotistical reasons, he felt he deserved more from Honda, well HRC dont work that way chap, not unless you Marquez, for everyone else you get what you are given and you were offered a ride on a GP bike and turned it down as they went for Bautista, a proven world champ and GP front runner for the factory bike, you felt you deserved more, they said, fine, we have plenty more guys thanks.

I feel Rea knows he is as good if not better than a lot of the guys who have won GP's I would put him up there with Dovi for instance, better than Cal, Smith on talent certainly.

but he chose money, easy wins and titles over graft, greater sacrifice and a potential long GP career. Not many Brits in the past would have even been offered rides, let alone turned them down,

Graft and sacrifice are fine if you have no commitments like children, mortgages etc .

It's like when you get young bands consistently touring , when they live at home with there parents they can afford to jump on any tour even if it barely pays , the older bands just can't tour for no pay just to gain exposure.
