Any 'ultimate' buying time?

Hi all,
We're now into winter. Crap weather now and ahead. What's the acknowledged wisdom on the ultimate timing on purchasing a new bike? 'deal wise'.
i.e. beginning on Jan? end of Jan? Feb?
I believe that by March, the season's changing and people are looking towards new bikes.
So what's the generally perceived 'ultimate' time to get a good deal at a main bike dealership?

I bought an 18 month old z1000sx tourer (17 plate, that year’s updated model) with 12k on it a week before Xmas 3 years ago. Paid 7k from a dealer. Still think it was a great deal. Been considering a change/second bike for a while now and am not sure given the way things are there are many such good deals to be had at present.
End of August / early September gives the most choice and keenest prices in my experience.
There isn’t that much for sale in winter and bar the odd rare bargain most people are happy holding out for spring.
Early in the season, April / May, will give you plenty of choice but not great prices.

If you're not fussy about any particular model then January is the perfect time to pick up a second hand bike both privately and from small dealers.
Privately, once the Crimbo credit card bill hits the mat there are plenty of nagging wives who only see th bike in the garage as saleable asset that hasn't been used for months.
Small dealers always struggle at this time of year and if there are wages to pay then a cheeky cash offer on something that's been on the floor for months can mean the difference to them as to whether they stay afloat or not.
