Real POS.

Got caught in fairly light rain for 20 mins or so. Upon returning home opened the charging port to find it damp, same with the SD card one.

Screen also had moisture behind it and the silly thing would not format the SD card.

Avoid.

I've tried various cameras over the last few years and GoPro 9 and probably the new 10 are the only ones worth getting new. My 9s are waterproof, battery lasts well, the HyperSmooth is brilliant with horizon levelling and the image quality is better than anything else that size.

My older Sony had good 4k video but needed a big case to be waterproof and the image stabilisation was very poor.

I have one of the older ones. They are fking useless for waterproofing, you just need to look at it to see this. It is only a rubberised flap over the charging port and card slot.

If it ain't got an O-ring, it ain't waterproof.

Anything else that's worth buying that isn't £350+?

I don't think I need all the features of a GoPro 9 but don't want any old tatt

I've used my Drift over numerous years in torrential rain, never had an issue.

I’ve heard a few say the older models held up better to a little rain, such is life I suppose.

I wouldn’t expect these to survive being submerged, but a little bit of rain shouldn’t kill something sold as a bike camera.

Maybe they should come with an ‘indoor use only’ disclaimer….

Might look into another GoPro now.

Same here. And there’s a clear case available for underwater use.

I have owned 3 Drifts and for the cost compared to the GoPro they were competitive. However they all had issues. First one used to get red hot when on bike power (bought the little door with the hole in for the USB cable which worked really well). I upgraded this to the Ghost 4k. This had issues also when on bike power. It had bad interference on the picture (think VHS tape lines) and both of these worked perfectly on battery. The third one flew off the bike so cannot really comment about it other than it worked great on battery but didn't like the power being connected all the time. Never had an issue with water ingress.

I bought a GoPro10 with accessories so have jumped ship. Not even fitted it to bike or rider yet so cannot comment. FWIW I think GoPro are totally ridiculously priced and what you save on their offers you give up on having to pay the subscription.

Seems well made and the app is ok so far.
