Hi all

Anyone out there test ridden the new Honda NT1100?

What did you think?

Was it the manual or DCT model? Did you order one and if so when is your expected delivery date.

Cheers

Gary

I want to have a go on one but it looks very similar to my Versys so not worth the upgrade. Keep versys for communiting and buy something interesting is my logic.

Good all round tourer/commuter by the sounds.

Plenty of reviews on YouTube now. Mr Fish just did a good one.

Are you sure you don’t want to buy something more interesting, like a fridge or a washing machine?

Aw sarcasm....when you have nothing to contribute.....Guess that's a no then.

To be honest it strikes me as one of those bikes that gets under your skin more because of its capabilities and all round competence than any whiz bang element.
I see it as a nice alternative to ubiquitous adventure bikes that will never go off-road (like the one I have for instance). More options are always better than less options!

I can’t understand the anticipation for them that’s all. It’s an underpowered, under-specced commuter bike based on the dullest of the adventure bikes. Unless you need the DCT box I can’t think of a single reason why anyone would buy one.

F900XR TE, Versys 1000 and Yamaha FJ09 offer the same practicality in more interesting platforms with better technology.

I agree but you missed off overpriced.

A GSX S1000GT is cheaper and superior in every respect. Only a Honda fanboy would buy this or as you say someone needing a DCT.

I agree. £13k is a lot of money for a twin cylinder machine. Call me old-fashioned but anything touring should have 4 cylinders or more for that money - don't get me started on GS's hehe

No problem with V or flat twins, but a SOHC parallel? Yawn.

I’m ok with a twin but 100bhp on a 240Kg touring bike for that money? No thanks.

I have to agree. There are just too many "better" options out there.

I had a 2018 africa twin ATAS, the build quality was the worst on any bike I have ever owned (which is around 20 and one of those was a 1960s BSA) which was a shame as it rode brilliantly and I loved the DCT.

This bike should have a shaft drive.

I really wanted this to be a replacement for my vfr1200f dct as it's now 6 years old and production stopped in 2016.

Sadly it's nothing like as exciting. It's a really yawnsville bike - too boring for words.

Might be good for some though - mainly commuters and dodderers I guess.

What was up with it?

Don't get why people are moaning about a lack of power though. It's more than enough for road use and certainly not 'underpowered"

Most bikes of 500cc and over have enough for the road. Underpowered is relative to its completion and market expectations.

As far as I can see it's a similar weight and power to the V Strom and Versys. I can't see the Triumphs wet weight.

Seems to slot in fine power wise.

240kg bike plus 90kg rider and 70kg pillion plus full luggage will feel slow with 100bhp.

Fundamental it’s too expensive for its spec.

I though the big Versys had 20-30% more? Could be wrong though.

Versys 1000 has 120bhp, its not slow by any means although its missing the top end of the Z1000SX (same engine in 143bhp tune)

Not forgetting this was a 2018 machine:

1) Paint flakes the size of 5p pieces coming off the frame (particularly around front brackets but also underneath)
2) Frame rust, around most of the welds
3) Frame weld awful quality and lots of spatter that was simply painted over
4) Moisture in the clocks
5) Seat seam looked ready to give up in one spot
6) Fasteners all corroded
7) Anodising badly corroded and pitting on both wheels
8) Heated grips only got to about 50% of the heat of oxfords
