Mate of mine just came off his R1 at 160mph. most probably at the end of a wheelie.

End can found 1/2 mile down the road.
Frame cracked in two.
Swinging arm cracked and punctured by the shock (now bent).
Both wheels cracked.
Headlight and surround never found.

He got away with Heavy bruising, chiped bone in his foot, and a broken bone in his hand.

Ouch!

Whereas I hit a car at 30 and lost 2" out of my femur. I bet he slid for bloody ages It's not speed that kills, it's stopping suddenly!

Glad he's ok.

Yep Lucky Boy there, a guy hit the back of my dad's BMW on a ZX9R a few months ago!
He was doing 80, couldn't stop but he was sensible enough to slide it down the road and slide past the car! Had he stayed up, he would have flown for miles. Lucky boy there too.

Chap who owns the local garage binned his Aprilia Mille the other week - he had a backpack in a cargo net and it slid round and into the rear wheel. He managed to keep it upright until the tyre burst, by which time he was only doing about 50mph, and then threw it down the road. When he checked the 'last known speed' gizmo it said he'd been doing 145mph when the back locked up. Lucky chap - got up without a scratch as he just slid into the nearest hedge!

All sounds familiar. A group of us 1 year did a run down to LeMan... Same thing we said we would take it easy departing from Cherbourg harbour... 10 miles down the the road at approx 140-150 Andy on his R1 luggage falls off the back and wraps around the rear wheel... wondering what the hell was going on pulls in the clutch as all he could see was smoke in his mirrors. It was the longest dark'e I have ever seen/Missing the central reservation with inches to spare. He could not go on so we turned around got on the same ferry we had just got off and sat in the same seat on the way back. I think this bags should carry some kind of a warning...
