Getting the bikes ready for the riding season
Discussion
I've spent the last hour going over my BMW F800 and replacing the gear indicator.
I say replace it but I took the old one off, went away to make a coffee, came back and promptly fitted back on the one I'd just taken off.......Doh!!!
Took it off again and fitted the new one before I did anything else.
Now have a neutral light and it'll start with the sidestand down.
All that's left is to replace a dodgy abs sensor and I'm good to go.
Looking forward to getting some dry roads so I can enjoy myself.

My bike’s been abandoned in a mate’s barn since a Portimao event last Oct. Went to see him yesterday taking the battery with me and it started and ran but leaked fuel out of the carbs.
Will get a lift over and collect it in a few weeks’ time - roll on Spring!

I had an up and down weekend.
My BMW R100 is due it's final MOT (almost at the magic 40 years old) so I took it off it's trickle charger and headed towards my local tester.
Unfortunately the bike stopped charging and cut out at the bottom of two rather large hills. I had an incredibly difficult push home and put it to the back of the garage, declared it SORN and threw a strop.

1977 GS750 went out for a quick ride and reminded me why I restored it. What a fun bike! It needed a few attempts on the starter before it fired into life but ran like clockwork after a minute or so.

2014 GSR750 - Took it for its MOT and quite typically - it started on the button, didn't skip a beat and was an absolute pleasure. I bought it to sell but I'm really going to struggle to part with it. It's almost perfect, it's just a shame there's a couple of brackets that have rusted. Typical Suzuki. Oh and I got caught out in a rainstorm that would've surprised an Amazonian tribesperson.

I feel your pain. The benelli tornado rs blew its middle coil last year which is a common fault for them as water from the tank drain plug drips onto the top of it! I only bought the aprilia last november. I have owned the gsxr since new in 2013 and it has never missed a beat. Its a fantastic bike!

My guess would be the windings on the alternator rotor.. It was always a weak point on those airhead boxers. My BMW R100 is due it's final MOT (almost at the magic 40 years old) so I took it off it's trickle charger and headed towards my local tester.

Thanks, I've heard similar things from the Facebook groups. It's done it once before on a ride but sorted itself out so I kept going, running on faith. I'm half tempted to upgrade the charging system entirely but the kits start at around £450 I think. Took the GS out yesterday and did about 100 miles. It was 10 degrees and cosy enough.
Started on the button but there again it’s only a year old and I’d put the charger on it a couple of times over winter.
I’d normally wait a few weeks but I’ve got the funeral of a mate on Wednesday and the family have requested some bikes to attend if possible

The plan is to use and ride the ZXR this year along with the recently purchased TL-R
The ZXR needs its carbs sorting first (bit fluffy low down) & an MOT once the weather improves.

The TL-R had an oil change & filter when I purchased it, but I have bought a service kit myself so will be doing that before riding. Just for my own piece of mind.

The RSV will be serviced and MOT’d but then it’ll be put up for sale.

The SRAD, ZX12R and Fireblade will hibernate for 2023

So yesterday checked all 3 bikes for the riding season ahead. Had the gsxr from new but id like possibly a gen 5 bmw s1000rr to replace it. Anyone on here got one yet? All started 1st time due to being connected to optimates over the winter. Just got to get the aprilia and gsxr motd

Great line up!

Great collection of bikes waynester! Thanks tell me more about your rsv factory and what you want for it.
Thanks mate, ditto your bikes! It’s an early ‘04 with 11200 miles, excellent Pirelli Diablo Rosso tyres.
It’s pretty much spotless with just one scratch on the lower fairing.
No idea what I’d put it up for tbh.. prices seem to vary a lot on eBay? I’m good at buying bikes..not so great at selling them

Only selling this as I now have 2 v twins. I’ll miss it though, they’re great bikes to ride as you probably know.. Yours looks pretty mint
