Does anyone have any experience of the many we buy your bike type websites? I know about Superbike Factory but was wondering whether anyone has good or bad experiences of any of the others?

I’m considering selling my 2021 Speed Triple 1200 and don’t want to go through the process of trying a private sale.

Any recommendations?

I used superbike factory at the end of last year, got a decent deal and everything went smoothly and professionally.

They are all as good / bad as each other - ie it depends on who you deal with on the day, if they want your bike and whether it's as good as described etc

On such a late bike I'd not expect any issues, message a few plus the local Triumph Dealer

I tried them for my 12 year old (low mileage, VGC) BM tourer and they came back with £4k, compared to between £5k and £6.5k that "retail" dealer prices
seemed to be. Is that a reasonable sort of mark up they would take?

I have in the past asked for a price from my local Motoraad dealer but the gap in that case was about £2k or more - difficult to stomach that sort of margin.

On a £5k retail bike most would aim to make at least £1k after prep

So if it needs a valet, service, tyres etc that's all got to come off too

Bear in mind in a £1500 gross margin £300 is lost in VAT straight away

Showrooms, rates and salesmen aren't cheap either as the number of bike shops closing down demonstrates

I used webuyanybike most recently, described the bike accurately and it was relatively straightforward, the guy did try and chip me but I stuck to my guns and they paid the previously agreed price.

Superbike offered me well under what I sold two bikes for privately and PXd my last bike for (3.5k) 5.5k achieved at trade in.

It depends if you need to sell quick. I personally don't see selling for 2k more as 'hassle'.

I tried my 22 plate GS1250 and it was a ridiculously low price.

I’m talking £4k less than what I was offered as a trade in.

I’d have thought a popular bike like a GS would attract a higher offer but obviously not.

Superbike factory’s offer was better than my local Triumph dealers offer to buy it.

The Speed Triple is a second bike that isn’t really getting used, so I was considering selling and not replacing it. I have decided though to replace it with a Speed Twin 1200 so have agreed a part-exchange deal with the dealer.
