Before I hit the buy it now button, can someone confirm that ordering a *front* sprocket with one tooth *less* will lower the gearing of a bike and provide better acceleration?

Thanks,

Mark

Yes it will, as will buying a rear sproket with more teeth.

Thanks.

I was going to do it by getting a rear with more teeth but it was explained to me that dropping a tooth off the front was roughly the equivelent of adding 3 on the back but you can use a standard length chain and then swap back to standard if I didn't get on with it.

Regards,

Mark

Edited to add: you're not JonRB's mate Paul from near Thatcham by any chance are you?

Did you weld the hinge on my FTO's fuel filler flap?

I thought the car list in your profile sounded familiar.

Did the weld hold?

Yes, but sadly my clutch didn't.

Things to do in the next couple of weeks :-
Number 1, fit new clutch.
Number 2, swear, lots.
