Waiting times on bikes
Discussion
If it's in stock, usually in your garage within 7 days.
If it's a new release then it depends which way the wind's blowing. Some come through really quick and dealers usually start receiving 2006 stock in DEC or JAN. If you wanted a GSXR in Blue/White you may have to wait, similarly some other popular schemes/bikes have demand outstripping supply. Best bet is to speak to your supplying dealer, he'll be desperate to shift units prior to the big March 1st rush so you never know, if your local agent can't sort you out then ring around the region - someone else may have what you're looking for and will probably deliver for pennies.
Most dealers will order bikes without having a buyer lined up, combine that with the fact that most models only come with a choice of colour and not the huge spec lists cars have. It'd be safe to say that lead times are not as bad as cars, probably worse case scenario of 6 weeks from a Jap builder, maybe more for european stuff like the Daytona 675.

What I meant is, if I wanted a 2006 R6 in March (brand spanking new), would I need to place an order months prior or is it a case of a few weeks ?
Cars can have waiting lists of years, is this not the same with bikes ?
no its no where near the same with bikes, when a newmodel comes out you know about it a while before itson genral release which can be annoying, but when its out you can pretty much place an order and have it within a week or 2, or alternitivly you could wait for 2 months or so after a new model comes out, and your guarenteed to find someone who decided it was too much for them selling it for a fair amount less than a brand new one with hardly any miles on the clock, will the 2006 R6 be difficult to get hold of? no way, the only odel whichmight provedifficult for next year would be the R1 LE
