Hi,

So I’m a long time lurker first time poster.
Reads some very decent insights on issues here so hoping someone can crack this one.

After doing a complete chain and sprocket change on a Royal Enfield 650 I suddenly have a “crunchy” rear brake lever. It’s perfectly smooth when standing still but pulsates like the disc is very very warped when applied while moving. As far as I can see when letting the bike run on a paddock stand the fisc is straight. And naturally this issue wasn’t there before removing and refitting the rear wheel.

Any thoughts on the cause?

Have you put any spacers in the right way round?

Do believe so yes. Everything is lined up and other than this everything is spinning nicely…

Start with the basics - what exactly did you do to / near the rear brake ?

When working on bikes it's always handy to take loads of pics to ensure everything is back in place correctly

If you can't think of anything, I'd start by removing the rear wheel again and examining the disc, pads and caliper

Solved! Pulled the ABS fuse and everything feels normal. So now I know where to look to fully fix it.

Sounds daft/basic but double check the pads in the caliper i.e. one each side of the disc plus placement of any anti-squeal shims, pad retaining clips etc.

I can’t see what you could’ve done to interfere with the ABS unless you’ve knocked the sensor or damaged the ring but that’d likely throw a fault!?

Must have knocked or pulled something while reinstalling the rear wheel. That was a bit of a pain in the b*tt. So sounds plausible…
