Ducati Panigale v2 - what is replacing it?

Currently have a 22 reg Supersport 950 and been toying with the idea of swapping for a Panigale v2. Given they have recently said they are stopping making the v2 I just wondered if anyone had heard anything about what the replacement may be?

I heard on the grapevine it may be less powerful than the current 150bhp and possibly even a single, which sounds a stretch but who knows? This was from a person at the local Ducati garage.

Anybody heard any rumours?

It will still be a v2. Likely around 115 bhp and replace both the panigale and super sport with a price a bit more than the current SS but a chunk less than the v2 panigale.

A 160hp V4 SS would be nice!

The replacement will apparently have the testastretta evo-based engine as Ducati will no longer be producing the superquadro twin (only the superquadro single will remain in production). I can't see it being that far removed from the Panigale v2 as I believe they sell a lot more of the V2 Panigale than they do of the Supersport.

After test riding most of the range. I thought they should make a supersport style sports tourer & naked with the v4 engine from the multistrada/diaval

Would make a perfect all round bike!

Perhaps a change in direction in supersport based on the other machines it will come up against? Models using this engine announced on November 5th.

Correct imho - move the V2 Pani down into the newer supersport space, a bit like the very jazzy R9, with all the premium components and low weight.

It's a bit of a shock but a strategic move. What's probably the confronting thing is that high-power version knocks out 126 horses which seems a bit beta. No desmo is a bit of a shock but no suprise as they want to lower the cost of manufacturing. The reduction in weight is pretty good.

Excellent move by Ducati… fits perfecty with the market… though I rode a 150bhp ish V2 Streetfighter this summer and it was quite fun.
