I need (ok want...) a new helmet, but prices are through the roof since I last got one.

Helmet City have some offers but not for what I want (Shoei Neotec).

Any places worth having a look at? I'm happy to buy online as I know the fit will be fine with the Neotec.

I found motocard decent on price, not sure what their returns policy is like as i think they are mainland Europe based.

Bought one at the Motorcycle live show from Helmet City as it turned out, negotiated from 229 down to 180, realise Shoei are more expensive but will give you some idea on what percentage they will drop if you ask, otherwise just search internet if you've made up your mind on what you want, good luck.

I like Helmet City.

Best time is probably around when the new colours or updated helmets come out. Not sure when that is, and obviously you'll have to be happy with an old version.

I tested helmets at MCL but they didn't have the colour I wanted

I usually find the best price is on ebay

Currently there are various discount codes on there too

I bought my Arai RX7V at the Motorcycle Sow in London a few years ago and negotiated a sizable discount.

Ultimately it’s the most important safety thing so it needs to be right.

I bought a helmet from Chromeburner, great price, and you don't pay import/VAT on safety equipment, BUT, the helmet developed an issue during the first year and it was impossible to contact them. Tried several times and they never responded, had to pay a UK company to look at it and supply the parts needed in the end. CB look great but I wouldn't go anywhere near them again.

Try sportsbikeshop.co.uk they have sales on every now and then.

Last couple of helmets I've got from them as I know a Shoei medium will fit me, the last I got in one of their sales reading for replacing when needed.

As you may know, helmet city operate a franchise so the local stores compete with the web site. I found that my local store was very happy to undercut the the web site so it might be worth giving your local store a call. They also delivered it free as in store they didn't have the colour I was after. As it happens it was also the Neotec

That's a shame, noted!

The best time is when they are about to be replaced with a new model, rather than the time of year. I bought a Multitec when the Neotec was first released, then a Neotec when the Neotec 2 was released, then a 2 after the 3 was released. Keep them for about 4 or 5 years each time.

Discounts were in the hundreds each time, all from Helmet City. I live about 30 minutes from their Tatsfield branch for trying them on, although I've been a Shoei size L for over 20 years so not much point TBH - I know it'll fit perfectly! Good shop BTW, would happily recommend.

Worth asking here or starting a new thread?

Any brand of helmets to stay clear of ?

I’m meant to be doing my cbt on the 8th and need to buy a helmet but truthfully money is a touch tight having 3 kids and Christmas around the corner.

https://jsaccessories.co.uk/category/motorcycle-he... This store is local to me so will be popping in there to try / buy. Any on there I should avoid? Budget will be 1-150. I do plan on hopefully buying something more Gucci in the new year after completing my mod 2 and seeing how I’m enjoying riding. Cheers in advance.

Less of a guarantee you're getting the genuine article and not a Chinese copy made from recycled washing up bowls, though.

Plenty of choice, get the best fitting helmet within your budget, and preferably 5 star SHARP.

This is a good starting point:

Brilliant thank you. I’m leaning towards the c70. Currently discounted for Black Friday as well.
