Another nail in the coffin of the Motorcycle enthusiast.

Glad I went in 2023 and got some laps in now.

Except they're not banned.

Bikes & cars now have their own sessions and no longer share track time.

Doesn't it say that bikes and cars won't mix on the track at the same time? Not that bikes are banned, just that they'll be given their own times to run?

Separating cars and bikes seems like a sensible move.

Does seem like you'll only be able to do guided laps now on bikes though. Nothing equivalent to the tourist sessions.

I think its a good thing for both bikers and car drivers imho.

Not so keen on this:
In the future, motorcyclists will only be able to experience the 21-kilometre Nordschleife under the supervision of trained guides during training sessions and courses.

Glad I've experienced it by simply turning up and paying.

Yep, fking ste, what a shame. I can see why they've wanted to separate the traffic as there have been some nasty accidents (and those are just the ones that make the news/socials), but to effectively ban bikes from public sessions is highly crap

There's another wrinkle in this: the Eifel's weather.

I've rode through flooded roads by the track in the late Spring. If you've paid and taken time off for one of the few sessions, then it's called off due to weather. What then? You can't just turn up the next day, next month or pop back a week later after riding around the Alps.

Except they are, unless you count just 4 days a year under supervision of an instructor.

They've opened more bike only days on the GP track as a substitute, which obviously isn't comparable.

Having done it a couple of times on a bike it's no great loss. I really didn't find it that much fun. Braking points and turn ins are so different for cars and there's always to many 4 wheeled hero's trying to break their own lap record with little care for the safety of bikers. Always got to the end thinking I'm glad to have survived. Unlike a track day you really can't find a rhythm and focus on your lines etc when you're about to be carved up by a car.

Far more fun to be had on the roads in the surrounding area.

Easily said when I've been there got the t-shirt. Not so good for those that haven't ticked the box yet.

It's a box I'm yet to tick, but I must admit that I've seen some online footage where car drivers are so up the chuff of bikes in corners that it unsettles the rider and leaves very little margin for error on behalf of the car driver.

Much as I'd normally be inclined to rant that this is elf and safety gone mad, I'd much rather do it in a more sterile 'bike only' environment.

Never done it myself but there are some seriously quick cars and drivers on there.

It would be fun to tick it off the list but the idea of having a GT3 coming past you when you're trying to line yourself up for a corner...no thanks.

I have long held the opinion that cars and bikes on track there are a dangerous thing, fair enough if people are going fairly steady and touring, but really quick car and bike people are very much on the edge even on TF days, and they can appear from nowhere. They should not be, but it is sort of in the DNA of the place that you share the place with anything, so take care, but some don't.

Plus why on earth would you want to share a track with cars, they are slower on straights and get in your way in braking and the like in bends, seems silly, but there are very few bike only days I guess, hope for more now this has happened.

How many laps does it take to really learn the place on a bike? And how many Brit bikers really know their way around there safely. Plus from what I've seen cars are faster and safer, meaning bikes often get in the way.

Part of the fun was racing the cars, and most of them do not get in the way braking or cornering.

I didn't think it was supposed to be a race?
