I have a KTM 1190 adventure. I had Pirelli Scorpion Rally Str tyres untill last week. Quite a big tread tyre and actually not worn out but getting there .The bike felt great on them really compliant over the dreadful roads we have where I live . I really rated the tyre . I am no racer.

I had fitted Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 last week. A bit more road biased but as I liked the others so much seemed a good option. I only ride on the road .

The front tyre is like it's made if wood. it's dated week 23 of 2024 and actually feels soft and compliant if you push it with your hand. I tried different pressures today and have ridden it twice now. Back feels good front is so much stiffer and jolts and thumps over the terrible roads by me . Almost like the front shocks have gone hard. I tried the front shocks out they work fine . I don't like this front tyre . What do you think .

Given there were so many responses I thought I should give an update .
Well 250 miles on, the tyres are absolutely fine .
I have had loads of new tyres over too many years of motorcycles and I have never really understood the new tyres, go easy, scrub them in bit.

These tyres started terrible and now feel great , but the front took over 100 miles before it felt safe.
They do feel good now .

Metzler Tourance are a superb tire. Give them a look next time you need tires.

I've found tyres and bikes a very subjective thing and differences in construction can have quite an impact on how a bike feels.

I swapped from Pirellis to Bridgestone's on my Ducati Scrambler and it went from a relatively plush controlled ride to feeling, like you, I was on wooden wheels. Ended up dropping some pressure and backing off compression which made it better. I can only assume that the sidewalls are stiffer and so don't absorb bumps as much.

I would say every time you swap tyres brands/models you need to expect the bike to feel different!
