I'm using my bike mostly at night not, around 7-9pm because of school/homework. I don't mind night riding (well, its more fun then the roads are empty ) apart from the cold. Especially my hands.

I wear proper leather gloves with all the carbon fibre protection and stuff as I like the feel they give. I have some thicker winter gloves but they don't give anywhere near as much feel or feedback as the leather ones.

Do you guys wear little gloves underneath or just proper winter gloves?

I bought some silk inner gloves to go under my summer gloves and they make a lot of difference, well worth a tenner.

Muffs!

Don't like cold finger tips and either thick gloves, or gloves with liners, so I've just ordered a pair of muffs for my bike!

Sexy furry little things - and that's another use for them..................

Rode back from Hitchin to St Neots last night, first time riding at night. My boobs got cold.

I've got some bar muffs in the garage for the blade

I haven't used them yet but may well do as it gets colder... possibly. I already attract comments for the top box so it can't get any worse

Second the Silk gloves, I got a pair that I bought whilst skiing and they do make a difference.

But are your gloves waterproof, if not and your hands get wet, then you'll get cold regardless, in an 'emergency' stop at a garage and get some plastic 'Diesel' gloves to wear under your leather ones.

And make sure your gloves don't lose too much colour, when I was about 18 I went out for a night on the town with friends, had full waterproofs and new Gloves, got there nice 'n dry but the colour had washed out my gloves and I had Blue/Black hands which no amount of washing would clean

Get an electric vest. Keeps your trunk warm, which makes the rest of you warm.

Another good thing about silk inners is that you can get thinner waterproof gloves which means you don't have to wear baking hot boxing gloves in the summer when it's pissing it down. This also gives you a bit more choice and I picked up some waterproof gloves from hein gerricke for 35 quid which had all the armour and are ideal for the weather now and with the addition of the silk inners will be ok (I hope) when it gets colder.

Mind you, all this dicking about with gloves, inner gloves, dark and light visors, waterproof and leather jackets with and without thermal liners, water proof over trousers, waterproof and summer boots doesn't really do my commute time many favours

Another vote for muffs here. Don't find I need anything apart from ordinary gloves until it gets around freezing, but when it does muffs are ace. Not only do they shelter the hands, they stop those irritating draughts that find their way inside the end of your sleeves.

Get a naked bike. Stop at lights and put gloved hands on the engine block, nice and toasty!

Just had my heated grips fitted. Apart from being nice and warm they are also a bit thicker and I prefer the feel of the throttle with them. The previous grips were too skinny.

...put a rubber band between the twistgrip and the bit that covers where the throttle cable connects to the twistgrip, then you can ride along alternating hands on the engine...

I usually just reach over and use my left hand, using the elastic band takes too much control away and frankly, using no hands on the bars is downright dangerous.....
