Afternoon all, I currently have a 2023 KTM Superduke which I love but with the slightly fragile state and uncertain future of the company, I am considering a change. I had a 2017 Soeed Triple R before the KTM and loved it. Has anyone owned a 1200 RS and if so what has been your thoughts? Cheers.

Not me personally but a friend I ride with regularly has a 2023 1200 RS.

He loves the bike but it has had a few reliability niggles. Most recent is the TFT Screen decided to just cut out mid ride and never come back. Took it to Triumph, just out of warranty, but Triumph agreed so provide a new screen for free (Should have been well over £1000) but it did take them 8 weeks to get the screen delivered, he wasn’t happy! Currently considering P/X it against a MV Brutale.

I bought one in 2021 and kept it for about 18 months.

Pros -
Excellent quality.
Very good looking bike (unlike most other super nakeds)
Epic engine.
Comfortable riding position.
Reliable.

Cons -
Just the one, but it's huge and my reason for changing it. The suspension is too stiffly sprung for road use in my opinion.

The new for 2025 one has the latest electronic Ohlins, so that may have solved it. I need to test ride it as I loved everything about my previous one apart from the suspension.

After the little mishap the other day, I wondered if you would be keeping an eye on this! Hope you are doing ok.

Cheers for the replies chaps. I was hoping that by 2023 the TFT screen issues had been resolved. I guess though it is like anything and it was a rogue one.
The suspension was something I was also aware of but I guess this could be re-sprung. The latest one with the elastictrickery suspension would be brilliant.
The engine I can imagine being superb, I absolutely loved my old 1050, reckoned it was one the best and most glorious sounding engines made.

Haha I hadn’t realised it was you who started the thread!

I’m setting myself up to get something a little bit more insurance friendly for the next few years so these, the Scrambler 1200 XE is it?? And maybe a R9T are on my radar at the minute.

And then maybe get a pre-injection CBR600 or super mono and so the CRMC with my mate who already races in it.

Both cracking bikes and bikes I would love in the garage. A friend had an R9T and absolutely loved it. The Scrambler just looks brilliant and sounds superb too with some pipes. Can't go wrong with either.
The CBR600 would be a great choice, loads about and easy to get spares for. How about a mini twin also? I wish I had tried one when I started racing as they are so much fun!
Edited to say scrub the mini twin as they are too new for the CRMC.

Bit of an old thread now, but a now-gone poster had quite a lot of issues with a 1200RS - in the end Triumph gave his money back and he bought a V4 Factory.

The thread is a bit weird because their post content has been binned by a mod.
