Not too old at all. Once you have passed your theory you can go through cbt and das training in a week.

I just took an online mock theory test an scraped a pass, which bodes well, but probably a fluke 😀

How long is the theory test valid before you take the practical?

Nope, do it.

When you're 70 you'll be looking back and regretting not riding for the last 14 years...

Never too old, you'll be winning inters by 58 ....

Do the CBT, see if you click with it, if you do, book a Direct Access course and get going .... good luck whatever you choose, its a great hobby.

Just do the CBT as a fun activity. Borrow their helmet and jacket.

If you don't like it, then just treat it as another thing you've tried in life.

If you do like it, then start saving for the bike(s)

Theory lasts for 2 years from passing. As does the cbt. Once you pass the mod1 you have to pass mod 2 whilst the cbt and theory is still valid or you have to do them again.

Download an app to help revise for the theory & most importantly, get used to to hazard perception videos and how they want you to respond to them (yes you can react too early and if you click too many times they will give zero for that video)

For me that was the part I feared the most. Id been riding trials since I was 8, so the actual bike handling etc didn't worry me, I was convinced I was going to struggle with the HP, but it was actually ok.

Get the Theory booked (about £24 I think) then when you do the CBT you are ready to start with the rest of the training.

Keep us updated, we need more riders!

PS, you have 2 years to get the license from date of passing the theory.

I was 57 in 2021 when I started with CBT four years ago today and theory test in the same week. I passed my Mod 1 and Mod 2 on a Tuesday and Thursday in September 2021. I passed IAM Advanced test in October 22.

Go for it, you’ll never regret it.

I'd book theory asap. The lead times used to be a couple of months.

The cbt isn’t really biking so if you don’t like it don’t let that put you off.

I hated doing the cbt and didn’t much like my first bike either but once you work out what you want from biking it’s great.

Thanks I haven't looked into the wait times.

Can you do a course where you take the CBT and parts 1 & 2 on the same day/week or do you have to arrange the tests yourself?

Nope. An experienced observant driver is more likely to be a safe motorcyclist.
