Short term insurance
Discussion
Does anyone happen to know of any insurers other than Tempcover offering day or short term insurance?
Basically my dad’s Suzuki DL250 needs an MoT and he’s unable to ride it just now so I was intending to take it. It doesn’t appear in Tempcover’s list of models (though other DLs do) and the reg finder doesn’t recognise it. Tried contacting them and their response was “if it’s not in the dropdown then we don’t cover it” tried asking them if they could push it to the underwriter for a quote but got a flat refusal. Every other provider I can find just appears to be a front on Tempcover and Admiral Veygo only seems to be interested in learner car drivers now.
Any help greatly appreciated!

Last year my friend lent me his Indian for the day, and I used https://www.bikesure.co.uk/ - they were cheap and very straight forward

“Sorry we can’t insure you” though it does find the bike on the reg finder. All the wording on the website seems to be car or van so I assume they’re not doing bikes just now timbobalob said:

I’ll maybe give them a go. Bit of a pain not having an online quote form but I’ll see if I can get a quote.
I did, eventually, get a quote out of Tempcover. It seems they classed the bike as a “V-Strom 250” - why the 250 is there when the others are under DL as per the V5 is a mystery.

Can your dad add you to his insurance? May not be very expensive.Basically my dad s Suzuki DL250 needs an MoT and he s unable to ride it just now so I was intending to take it. They should be able to help, not sure about cheap though.
An American friend of mine recently took out cover for around 9 days for my ducati panigale v2 and they charged him around £550...

Assuming your dad's bike is insured, you may be able to ask a friend who has their own bike to nip it down, since most bike policies have a third party extension.
If I still had my own bike that’s exactly what I’d have done but unfortunately we don’t know anyone with an active policy so it’s looking like it’ll either be him riding if he feels up to it or me via Tempcover. Still amazed that they were so unhelpful at locating the model on their list but no matter. Thanks all!Gassing Station | Biker Banter | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
