It's a bit quick and it carries it's speed without me realising how fast I am making progress!

I'm wondering whether a naked biked would help reduce top end speed (I also have Husqvarna 701 enduro which huffs and puffs upto 70mph but isnt that comfortable).

I've not actually tried a super naked but I was thinking about a Superduke, Brutale etc.

I know I just need to ease off, but would a super naked help with reducing top end speed?

A superduke would do the opposite of slow you down.

You probably need to be thinking of something in the middleweight parallel twin category.

Even then you’ll be doing 90 everywhere if you don’t have any self control.

I absolutely get that, my 701 enduro keeps me slow.....

Previous naked bikes over 70mph weren't that comfortable to ride despite them having the performance to go much faster than 70 so I'm thinking no fairing with big engine + my own control might help.......

Not sure I want to lose the attractiveness of a big bike, just need the ability to control my top end speed naturally...

As a gen 3 Superduke owner, all I can say is that they are absolutely phenomenal. It is truly a bike that will and can do everything. It will potter along through towns but hit the open road and you will embarrass superbikes. Touring is no worries with them either. They really are one bike to do it all. Oh and they are superbly comfy too.

I think it depends how big you are! All of those bikes will feel like a minimoto compared to the Busa.

Both the Ducati and MV are quite small. The other two are more commodious. I'm 6ft3 and 17stone and have had my M1000R for a couple of years. Apart from the suspension being too soft, even when set to firm, it's a fantastic bike to ride. Always makes me chuckle. Sure, the mirrors are useless and the bars are a little vibey, even with heavier bar ends, but that's about it. Cruise control, heated grips and satnav all work well.

I've recently gone from zzr1100d to cbr600fx, smaller bike to slow me down a bit(I'm 58)
Hasn't really worked, it's going round corner's much better, so I'm not slowing down like I would on the zzr.

It's 70 or so kg lighter

Going naked does stop you being daft, going smaller doesn't as most bikes will do more than 70mpph. Years ago I changed from a VFR800 to a Hornet 900. The Hornet is a much faster bike but you know you're doing it. Sitting at 120mph on the VFR was easy (as long as you could get the bloody thing started!!) whereas anything in 3 figures becomes tiresome on the Hornet quite quickly. I've still seen sillier speeds on the Hornet but not by accident and not able to hold them for long, so naked bikes do mitigate the risk. The other thing with nakeds is they become really uneconomical at speed, even knocking it back from 100 to 90 makes a tank go noticeably further - I guess it's obvious but that doesn't mean you think about it!

It's a shame that Aprilia don't make a naked Tuono, that would be a fantastic bike.

I d definitely add a V4 Tuono to that list as well.

I ve owned a KTM 1290 SuperDuke RR and that was a mega bike.

Test rode a BMW M1000R and took it back after about 20 mins cos I hated it.

Previously owned 2 S1000R s and again, they are mega bikes and I d choose one over the M variant every day of the week.

Don t fool yourself that a Supernaked will slow you down either, all of those bikes are capable of sustained, big double figure speeds.

If I was going out to buy another one right now, it would be a Tuono everytime.

Considered a Streetfighter V4 but bought the Tuono instead because I think they sound better and I m not a huge fan of the headlight on the Streetfighter.

As I said earlier on in this post, I am a huge fan of the Superduke 1290. It is a mega bike that genuinely will do it all. When I change it, I think I would look at either the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 or a V4 Tuono. I just can't get on with the looks of the 1390 Superduke, which is a shame as I love the 1290. I am keen to try a Triumph as I had a 1050 Speed Triple R and that was a lovely bike. The engine was stunning, it handled brilliantly and it was only because of the deal I was offered on the KTM that I changed. Glad I did but that triple engine is a brilliant engine for the road.

Great replies team thank you!

Lots to ponder there! I'm 6ft 2 and 17stone, interestingly i instantly got rid of my starter bike when my advanced instructor said I looked too big on it! Chopped it in for the last zzr1400 before it went out of Uk production.

Will add Tuono to list but I must say I want a physically large bike without going full on adventure or touring.

I am now wondering on physical size of all the bikes I am considering.

I was thinking that as soon as I read it and then I saw your reply.

I can't think of any current bikes as even a bike like a V-twin naked is likely to be quick.

Naked but used Hayabusa like nakeds would be a B-King, Honda X11, Yamaha MT-01, Yamaha Bulldog or a Buell?

Used or new Diavel?

I am not sure which bikes encourage a slower, less progress making pace.

Heart says Mv Agusta Brutale 1000rs.......

Head says need a local dealer so maybe KTM, Bmw, Ducati or Aprilia.....

If the bikes are physically small tho......might be back drawing board. ...Triumph Rocket maybe?

Need to get to some dealers, KTM within 10 mikes Ducat, Apriliai 30 miles, Bmw 50 miles. Mv Agusta 115 miles.

Big discounts on new Mv at the moment but not sure on stability of supply, those pipes tho!
