After having being caught in slightly moist conditions on my way home from work this morning, it was fairly obvious i need to put something on my visor in the way of reducing the water bobbling up and also misting on the inside. Can you use normal Rain-x that is usually used on glass on a visor? I have a bottle of the glass cleaner stuff lying around and was wondering if i could use it. if not any good products out there?

Cheers

I use rain-x on the outside and have a photochromatic Fog City on the inside. This acts like double glazing and also darkens in the sun.

Try M&P for these, about £15 IIRC.

I use a tiny amount of Zymol Vintage Wax on my visor, does the trick very well. Lasts well to.

I need to try the anti fog stuff see how that works on the inside.

Is it safe to use RainX on visors? I was looking at some in Halfords the other day and iirc it said NOT to use on anything but glass...

I bought some rain x but have never used it because of the warning about not using it on plastics

I dont use anything.

I have a FOGGY mask in the lid which is excellent and just keep the outside and inside fairly clean with a wash every week or so.

I previously had a Fog City on my HJC lid and it was 100% ace. I couldnt get one to fit my Arai at the time of replacment so went back with the foggy mask.

Must admit that as standard the Arai is terrible for fogging up.

Ive used Rain X for years with no problem.

The advice is given as a precaution as some plastics will soften.

You've got me all concerned now.

The rain racer works great, and so far the visor has taken a couple of hits from little stone chips etc (at the sides) and no untoward damage has been done.

So is it a time thing that if you put rain racer on your visor it will be OK but the visor will need replaced sooner due to premature ageing/softening ?

Do not worry.

The time taken to soften would take a year and using the treatment every day.

I change my visor at least once per year.

Cheers, I've only treated it once, back in spring so it should be good for a bit yet then
