Rider/Pillion Comms?
Discussion
Hi guys
I know there's a lot of stuff out there for comms between rider/pillion. But with all this new bluetooth stuff coming on the market, PDAs, Mobile phones, MP3, TomTom, the list goes on!
I want to try and cut the numbers of wires and would like to implement the bluetooth facility.
Is there some sort of bluetooth stereo headset that would fit comfortably under the helmet?
Maybe I could use a combination of bluetooth & autocom?
What works best for you?
Cheers
John

Don't think so. The radio earpiece that I used on my CBT was bloody uncomfortable, and that was quite flat. Most, if not all bluetooth headsets are quite large so would be pretty uncomfortable IMO. Easiest (and cheapest, if you have the kit
) way to do this would be to buy the new Nokia 5200 (think that is the right number IIRC, its the all terrain rugged type one). They incorporate a walkie talkie function, so if you used a wired headset with it? Other than that, I think standard radio systems are your only option unless you want to be buying custom helmets like that dainese one.
Thanks for the info guys
As you rightly say, most BT headsets are rather large and the one I have wouldn't fit beneath a helmet.
I don't particularly want to choose my helmet on the basis of whether it has bluetooth functionality, I prefer to choose my helmet and add bluetooth.
I don't think there is anything that will provide stereo - plenty on mono add-ons.
Looks like I might have to cobine part wired and part BT.

I cant find the answer on the net, but there is a company who make custom made ear plugs and can add on headphones, blue tooth etc into a plastic pug that fits your ears.
The standard plugs are £55 each if i remember. I saw them in a RIDE article a few years back and fancied a pair, but neve stumpedup the cash.
Search the www.longwayround.com site. They had excellent bike to bike coms so it should work for you.
