Post-Christmas I am buying a street scrambler. Probably the Fantic Caballero Rally 500.

I want some clothing suitable for local rides and commuting.

I am thinking of something like these:

##

The idea is to have something current but classic and with reasonable protection. Also, more importantly, something I can wear off the bike if I need to..

The thing with bike kit is no matter how good it is on paper if the helmet doesn't fit properly, and armour in the jackets and trousers don't cover the intended areas it's far less effective. You really need to go and try a couple of helmets, jackets, gloves boots and go for the ones that fit you best (while meeting the style you want).

Totally agree, Going to try some clothing tomorrow.

But broadly do you see an issue with that gear?

I think you should get a helmet the same colour as the bike . The jacket looks like a plastic one from the middle isle of that cheap supermarket. The boots look like the ones from the 1960's provided to those who had suffered from Polio. The trousers look like you have already poo'd yourself.

Perfect. The exact look I was trying for. Winner!

Actually, I like all the stuff but the Jacketsmile
I don't think the jacket looks very good at all in the pics . It does look like plastic.
I did look at Critique in the dictionary and it said :

means to review or examine something critically
So I did .

The jacket is Italian leather. It won't look so pristine in real life.

With that jacket you’re going to look like Freddie Dobbs on YouTube. That might not bother you but I couldn’t stand it.

Jacket is awful. Plus hit the deck wearing that and it’s gonna hurt.
Those boots are very deep and not very flexible, you will likely have issues getting your foot under the gear lever ( the same as I’m getting with Sidi ADV 2 boots…

I couldn't care less how I look to others. I wear an adventure jacket or retro goldtop on my VFR800F. Plus Solovair boots. Who cares!!

You will need to change the helmet to an open face for the full "hipster" look.
If you are a bit chunky, that jacket wont look so good.

Helmet is ok,the rest belongs in a catalogue not riding a motorcycle.
You might think it’s cool and vibey but most will think ‘ wouldn’t like to come of in that’,’what a throbber’,.
It’s a certain type of motorcycle rider who wears clothing like that.

Get yourself a GoldTop jacket and gloves.
You can’t go wrong, the quality is brilliant.

Agree on Gold Top gloves, can’t justify laying out for one of their jackets though.
I have the same jacket as the one the OP is thinking of buying, picked mine up off eBay for around £100 new, nothing wrong with it.

You got a belstaff trail master which is listed at £1350 on their website for £100?

Seems to be a bargain £800ish in the sale at the moment.

The boots have a thick sole so you might have problems with dropping your toe enough to get under the gear shift. Thick soled boots work well with some bikes but not others.
The jacket looks horrible, but it might do for mild days around town.
Good choice of helmet for riding, but as the rest of the kit is town riding surely an open face would fit the image better.

Mines not a Trailmaster but it’s that exact style in heavy leather and it has shoulder armour. Have a look on eBay.

The jacket has D30 armour. They do two versions, one with and one without. I am not suggesting it's the highest grade, but it is armoured.

Boots. I've been riding trail bikes in MX boots for years and always managed okay.

The thinking with the helmet - open face with goggles is a pain. I want the protection of either FF or convertible.

Other suggestions appreciated.
