…continues to be shocking. At this time of year we usually get the odd day here and there where going for a ride (for fun…) makes sense. This has been the most unrelenting onslaught of wet weather that I can remember. I am - frankly - sick of it…

As you were.

On the up side: roads are dry; on the downside: 15 minutes up the mountain, the snow is brilliant for skiing and it's feckin cold

My son had a dip today, in a hole through the ice and snow in Helsinki, it's minus 12.

Went to an Irish bar, ordered 2 pints of Guinness, his words " 24 euro and she pours half a fooking pint from a fooking can ".

It's not just the weather...the roads are literally falling apart with gravel and detritus everywhere. Awful.

Fooking depressing..everyday I check the BBC weather app and everyday it shows 14 days of rain ahead.

Looks like it's going to be almost two solid months of rain pretty much everyday. I can't play football now as age has caught up with many that I play with. Which leaves the motorbikes and golf, which are both ste in the pouring rain...

Bring on March asap please !!

The council “re dressed” our road last year with loose stones and it was an absolute disaster after they done it and it’s absolutely fked now! Loose stones everywhere- they sent a sweeper in a couple of weeks ago to tidy up and they might as well not bother!

I remember when I was a kid they re done the road I lived on and it was perfectly smooth with no loose stones and we were out on skates and skateboards revelling in the smoothness a real memory. My road now it’s dangerous to walk on and it’s worse that before.

They have filled potholes a couple of months ago on the local trading estate causing loads of traffic with temp lights and it’s now worse than before.

Highways Agency stopped traffic on Essex M25 yesterday, 2 orange men, oops, operatives. Tipped 2 bags of dry tarmac into a little lake, jumped up and down on it, job done.

Should last an hour or two.

It is utterly depressing.

When will it stop?

The unrelenting grey is the big issue for me.

Having access to a certain amount of sunshine should be a universal right hehe

I'd gladly take an average of 1hr a day.

I have booked our summer holiday in Provence - last year we had 42º temperatures. I am ignoring the current weather and thinking about the summer. smile

This is why I always book a week in the canaries every Feb. It's the only way I can make it through these two miserable months.

I would actually go out on the bike today, I'm that desperate, but I'd have to clean it afterwards and that is out of the question..

Highways agency is another joke! They stop traffic close lanes and stand around glaring at the traffic when they should be trying to keep the traffic moving!

2 vehicles at work already need new windscreens so far this year due to stones from the roads breaking down and bit being flicked up from vehicles in front. I saw 5 or 6 cars stopped at the side of the road with flat tyres the other morning from hitting a pothole in the dark.

Just depressing to think how this summers riding is going to be, dodging potholes piles of loose stones and being peppered by stones from cars.

My partner rang me in her work break yesterday to tell me she was sitting in the car in bright sunshine, she rang to tell me how much it lifted her mood.

I was about 10 miles away, stuck stationary on the M25, in pissing rain watching the Highways Agency Bodge up a puddle.

I booked a sun holiday over Xmas, she has booked another for Valentines, it's the only way to survive bleak winter if like us, the dark and the grey badly effect mood.

I had a week work trip in San Francisco in Jan. Turned up to a bike ride in short sleeves and shorts, all the locals looked at me funny wearing their jackets and hats under helmets. I explained it was the only chance I would get to dispense of a jacket for at least another three months,

Traditional British pastime of moaning about the weather in full swing I see; only another four months until it's moans of being too hot followed by questions about what vented jacket you should buy. moan

The weather is the weather, cannae change it. But the roads are covered in debris, which is a bit offputting; needs some heavy rain for a couple of days to clear it off then we should be right. whistle

It's bloody grim up here in the Pennines too. It's mostly rain but with occasional sleet, gales or fog for variety.
The motorbikes haven't turned a wheel, the pushbikes have snuck out a couple of times when it was fog only and I'm not risking walking across the fields or moors in case I sink in.
I have never known it this soggy before, perhaps it's just the price for a fabulous 2025.

I'm so so fed up with the rain. Usually down here in the south it's pretty much ok in winter especially temperature wise but it seems this year 2026 has rained every day. I'm so bored of either getting to work wet or getting home wet and having to dry all my gear every day on the rads
