Old GSXR or something more sensible?
Discussion
I have a WT with c23k miles on it.
Depending on how many miles you do etc., but I've had carb icing problems, not the best weather protection, aching wrists and forearms in stop/start traffic.
On the open road/track, it's ace and can still cut it with a few sensible/minor mods that you probably wouldn't find a GSXR without anyway.
I don't think of it as a commuter bike personally.

My 10 year old Speed Triple has 42K miles on it and I used it for 18 months as a commuter bike. Never let me down. 2 trackdays in the inter group and it still runs great.
Really cheap insurance and cheap to run as well!
Really recommended if you want something different. Plenty on autotrader.

VFR. Commutes, tours, scratches, takes abuse. I've put 64,000 miles on one since buying it new in '98 and reckon it os about as perfect an all-round bike as you can get.
Earlier this year I added a GSX-R750 K5 to my garage. Fabulous bike, great fun - but there is no way I'd want it as my only winter commuter. It is happier on a more open road where the wind helps lift the weight off your wrists. And I suspect it might need a little morte TLC to get it through winter looking nice. The VFR is a far better bike at shrugging off neglect.
I've never ridden the VTEC version - and there are those who love 'em and those who don't - but there are plenty around for very reasonable money and I'd strongly recommend you give one a go before parting with your cash.
