I'm having some old Honda wheels blasted and powdercoated but the ABS sensor ring is rusty as.

Any ideas on how to refinish them? I'm concerned powdercoating will make the clearance too small and rattle can finish never lasts long.

Carekote?

Not had anything done myself but it looks good and seems to be popular.

Or just get it blasted and lacquer it to stop it going rusty again.

Wheels and engine cases on my bobber were cerakoted 2 years ago. Very durable and just microns thick.

Media blast or put in a parts tumbler. Once the rust is removed, take your pick from a simple clearcoat to Cerakote or similar. The closing of the ring gaps by the coating material isn't a cause of concern as the sensor detects the ferrous material and the induced voltage is the trigger. The gap causes a drop in the induced voltage and this results in a "ripple" or sine wave of a rising and falling voltage. Thats what the system reads as a speed signal. Clearcoat/Cerakote won't affect this as it's not a ferrous material changing the physical properties of the trigger and gap values. HTH
