Why do deliveroo and other food app scooter folk ride along with their feet dangling just off the ground and not on the scooter? Is this part of the CBT test now?

Probably using someone else’s CBT and almost definitely not had any proper training.

The ones my way fall in to two categories slow foot draggers or face glued to phone whilst 2 microns off your rear bumper.

The only protective gear worn is normally an open face helmet of questionable origin.

To be fair some do seem to ride ok but these seem to be the exception rather than the rule

The thing I cant understand is why its permissible to have people who ride scooty/motorbikes as a job that are still "learners" and dont hold a full licence.

You wouldnt get into a taxi with an L plate. I know its a bit different because its power related but as a lot of 125s can do 65-70mph you can still get yourself into trouble.

Imo the whole bike licensing thing needs an overhaul.

Sliders and white socks seem to be the main safety gear in London.

Hire or reward on L plates is crazy. How do they get insurance?

There's a petition to get this looked at. Only a few sigs though...

I've always thought this must be the explanation, or they are worried about falling off. It pre-dates Deliveroo etc.

Some ride incredibly slowly. Got stuck behind one doing <20 in a 30 the other day.

My old instructor, who has a steady income from repeat CBTs says that most of his clients hail from Brazil and are used to terrible roads. They have learned to ride like that and can’t seem to unlearn it.

They do my head in.
Undertake, then slow up to read their map or chill along on face time.
Absolutely no idea.

The food delivery apps partner with companies (e.g. Zego, but there are many others) who specialise in pay as you go insurance for people who ride on L plates delivering food.
I think it was about £4/hour last time I looked.
