This is probably a bit of a daft question but any help would be appreciated!

A few weeks ago I took my MT07 in for its first annual service. I’ve ridden it a few times since but not a huge amount. Today I went out for a ride and noticed when on wide throttle that the clutch was slipping in the higher gears. I pulled over and adjusted the adjuster dial at the lever to increase freeplay and then tried it out again. This seemed to stop the slipping but there was still wasn’t much freeplay at all. When I got home, I adjusted at the engine end on the adjuster there but I’ve got a few questions:

• Does freeplay increase or decrease as the clutch wears (I.e. is it likely that it was the garage over tightening it and removing freeplay or is it down to wear and tear and just a coincidence that it was recently serviced)?
• Linked to the above, should I have the dial at the bar end set so that I can further tighten (remove freeplay) or loosen (add freeplay)?
• Obviously not ideal if it’s been ridden with a bit of clutch slip for a while - any steps I should take or things to check?

Thanks!

Free play doesn't really increase as the clutch wears but will increase as the cable stretches over time
The dial on the lever is fine adjustment usually. It's preference if you like the bite point nearer or close to the bar
Clutch slip isn't ideal no, extra slip may have put more clutch fibres into your oil. Changing the oil and filter isn't a bad idea, but may be wasted if you need new clutch plates.

With the above in mind, the clutch lever out of adjustment shouldn't really make the clutch slip unless it was really far over adjusted or the clutch on its way out anyways. How many miles are on the bike ? Edit: typo

I would be checking what oil they have used.
