I currently use a buff under my helmet. Main reason being I find it much easier to put my ear plugs in, pull the buff over then slide my lid on. Ears don't get squished and my earplugs don't get dislodged because of the buff.

However, because I'm a baldy, the line of where the buff ends on my forehead means that when I remove the lid and buff I am left with a big red line across my forehead. It sometimes get a bit sore on that line while I'm riding too. I always try and make sure the edges of the buff are flat and not rolled up but it still leaves the line.

What hack am I missing that means I can still slip my lid on smoothly, not squash my ears but yet not leave a big unsightly and sometimes slightly painful line across my head?

Thanks smile

I wear a buff 'round my neck - but one tip may be to put in your ear plugs, pull the buff over your head, covering your ears and down to your chin/neck level, pull on the lid and then pull the buff down so that it just acts as a neck warmer.

Your ear plugs aren't in properly if they can be dislodged that easily. They shouldn't even be visible from the front at all.

I think it's more an issue of my ears folding dislodging them a tad, rather than the plugs not being in properly. I frickin hate my ears being folded over if I don't have a buff on.

You're welcome to tell me my helmet doesn't fit properly next btw hehe but I do seem to have a slightly awkward shaped bonce!!

If your ears are folding over then your helmet doesn't fit properly hehe Or you're putting it on weirdly. Maybe consider a flip front next time you change helmets as there's a lot more angles you can pull it on.

I have a silk balaclava for chilly weather, and a Knox Cold Killer balaclava for really cold weather, I still find I get a bit of a line on my forehead though.

A more intensive moisturising regime will allow your skin to bounce back into no red line status more quickly!

I have similar ear snagging issues!
I use a fake silk snood type thing which is quite thin & very stretchy. Voilà.
