Just curious form anyone who has owned or ridden both

I'm going to sell/trade in the street twin as I can't persuade the Mrs to start riding again and it's a bit physically small for me (irritates left knee and back after about an hour). want to stick with triumph as I like the bike but having a bit more space (and power) would be nice. Will be test riding both but thought I'd get opinions form here too.

Similar bikes apart from the bars and the Euro 5+ gubbins. I ended up with the newer Speed twin RS as it's slightly more comfortable without the clip ons but has the same engine and the Ohlins suspension. The Thruxton looks better and has the classic twin clocks but I found it a bit too uncomfortable for what I wanted. I wasn't a fan of the pre-2025 speed twin, the ride wasn't as good and it didn't have have a quick shifter. I'm happy with my ST RS, can do over 70mpg when bring sensible, comfortable enough to do long rides and handles well enough to keep up with much faster machinery.

Very similar bikes, just depends if you want to be leant over or upright. I went for more upright so got the Speed Twin.

If I wanted to be that leant over there are better bikes IMHO, plus I wasn't a massive fan of the cowl. I think the ST looks more modern.

I ve owned a Thruxton, a Thruxton R and a Thruxton TFC (slightly more power than an RS) I ve done plenty of test rides on both versions of the Speed twin. Thruxton all day long if you don t mind the tighter knee position, although the second version of the speed twin is almost as tight. The Thruxton have better suspension than all versions of the Speed twin except the SP RS which has the same Ohlins rear shocks. The SP has, I think, marzzochi forks, the Thruxton R/RS has Showa big piston adjustable.
Even if you put the cafe racer fairing on the Thruxton you can still fit the standard clip ons rather than the cafe racer ones which are a bit extreme for most tastes.
Apart from that it really comes down to personal preference on looks and riding position.
If you re struggling with the SP the Thruxton may not be the right choice.
