Hi all,

I have been thinking about sorting myself out with a bike license for a few years now and think that I might actually get round to doing it within the next 6 months or so. With that in mind, I was wondering if you would be kind enough to recommend some schools local to me that can do a intensive direct access course. I'm at university in Loughborough but am from near Bracknell so near either of these places would be fine. Any tips and things to remember would also appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

I did mine in Reading with my test in Bracknell.
Cant remember the name but they run the course from the sports centre near the town centre and they were superb.
Having said that anyone Ive ever spoken to has thought their riding scholl was superb. Its a badly paid job so youve got to love it to do it and the enthusiasm tends toshow.
The point is that it doesnt really matter too much. Just pick up a yellow pages and phone any local bike school and most of them will do a intensive course and be as good as the next one.
Good Luck

Please remember that the more tuition you get the more likely you are to pass first time and the less likely you are to kill yourself (or allow someone else to kill you) when you're out on your own bike.

Rawwr - Thanks for making the effort of creating the diary, nice to hear the story from where I am now to where I might be if I get my arse in gear

Did my training with Sean Hayes of Circuit-Based Training. They used to be at Donington Park, but I think work out of Mallory now. A google search will find them. Top bloke, safe environment - what more do you need? Do it - you'll never look back!

i did my CBT with a company that was recommended by a friend. But, i am doing my test with another company as I didn't like the service very much. BUT why does it cost so much? my restricted access is gonna cost me bout 500 squids! That's nearly as much as my insurance on my little 125! Oh well, the price you pay for fun!

Anyway, just go with any recommendations you are given, but you will know as soon as you start whether it's rite or not!

Good Luck!

I paid £625 for my training, including:

CBT
Theory/HP Test Fee
5 days training
125cc Hire x 2 days, 9-5
500cc Hire x 3 days, 9-5
Test Fee

I feel I got good value for money

That seems a bit steep-ish, how much more would the full DAS for a full licence be ?

If it's not much more then you get to play on 500's

DAS is bout the same as restricted access, but i can't do the DAS because i am only 17! and i think you have to be 21 to do DAS, i no my mate's dad did it few months ago and he paid 350 quid, but i don't know what that included!
