Shears of Metal found in gearbox! (Advice needed)

Hi There,
(Yet another problem with this damn bike! )

Decided as it was a nice day today to go out and change the gearbox oil on the bike (KTM SX 125) and found something. What i found was little shears of metal in the gearbox oil. I know this could be the gears grinding and taking bits of the gears but could it be something else? and if so how much would it be to fix? or would it be worth just getting rid of the bike?

Any advice would be appreiciated.

How big where the shears? if they are small it could be the box bedding in, i would ask some questions at a KTM dealer though to fix it could be stupidly expensive.
