Right, I know what they are and what they do. Question is, do I need one? I've got a CBR600RR and an Akrapovic Race can (to be fitted).

The Powercommander website isn't clear as to whether there's one available for my bike or not (I assume there must be).

What do you lot reckon?

You'll definitely need one if you're going to fit a race can (I think only the after-market 'removeable baffle' types will be OK without.....but not necessarily) . There must be a PC available for the 600 RR !

(*) - Latest Style Power Commander III 'USB' Model.
(#) - Certain models require oxygen sensor eliminator kits (see below)

They're worth the money if you use it to get properly set up at the same time. Just bolt on and download a map will probably produce some improvement, but it'll never beat time on a dyno with someone reputable.

I've had great results with mine and take it back every year for a check-up.

Price has gone down on the CBR600RR (and up on every other bike!!) from 1st Jan 2006.

Unless you own a Harley all power commanders are now £235 plus VAT.

The only surefire way to work out whether you will need an O2 eliminator (£15 plus VAT) is to get down on zee knees and check whether the exhaust has a lambda sensor in it preferably when the exhaust isn't at 5000'C. Depending on when the bike was made and what market is was made for depends on whether Honda bother fitted a sensor.
