Just ordered my new bike: picking it up Saturday!!!

just watch stalling problems....I'm running in my 749r and have spent 500 miles so far stalling at traffic lights and junctions
its improved a bit after the last visit to the dealer, and in 100 miles they can keep it for a week at 1st service until its sorted!
oh and fit a hugger it takes hours to clean otherwise

Cheers beano - hopefully the stalling won't be an issue as the previous owner will have had it sorted....I hope.
quick pic of it:

Lovely
Was so close to buying a 749 Dark, but bottled out at last min and got the firestorm instead. To be honest i think i made the right decision for me, i am no Rossi and will probably only do the odd track day 1-2 a year tops.
Even so i think they look stunning, i am probably in the minority but i think the 999/749 is much much better looking bike then the 996/748. On top of that its apparently a much better bike to own and ride.
One thing that surprised me was the 749 is actually the most expensive Ducati for service costs. That was one of the main reasons for me not to go for it. After talking with quite a few people, very few escape the dealer with less than £500 being retrieved from their wallets...
Always a pleasure to see one of them on the road, it defiantly one of my all time favourite bikes, just not one i ever want to ever own!!! Work that out.

Ducatis are definitely a bike you buy with your heart and not your head!
Funny thing about the styling - I was v disappointed when they first came out but have now turned full circle and love how they look - can't wait to put it through its paces....
Mallory booked already for March too.

I've always wondered, with bikes like that they do have a side stand right? And isn't it difficult to get them up onto the rear wheel pit stands?
Yup they all have sidestands - it's just a photo from the showroom so it's on a paddock stand. It's dead easy to pop a bike up on a paddock stand.

Lovely
Do they still have the flip up sidestand? If it does, get the lug machined off or a replacement shoulderless bolt made up so it doesn't flip up on it's own. Otherwise, one day when you're out for a day of water skiing in front of a bevvy of top heavy beauties it could flip up on it's own... And then the bike could easily fall right on top of you... And that would be very embarrasing indeed

the older foggy style has a place in my heart, not becuase of the riders and match winners, becuase the way the later models from ducati ride.
front end is planted, design is finished, unlike the later 999 shape... .. .. .. yet
I suppose its all down to personal taste, I prefer a planted front end to make sure I can keep the rear in shape when im using that to steer round corners.
