£6-£7k sportsbike, what would you get?
Discussion
currently am not too sure wether i want to keep the Tvr or not, for some reason it doesnt seem to excite me as much as i thought it would
, i guess riding bikes before driving it didnt help as to be 100% honest im missing riding already and am getting cold feet with the car, only driven it a few times.
so my question is if you had £7k ish to spend what sportsbike would you go for?,it woulnt have to be used as a commuter although it might be sometimes but it would be purley for fun and wouldnt have to be practical in the slightest, also brilliant handling is a must, more so than ridiculous horsepower.
P.S. C2 how is the 749S mate? have often considered a Ducati but always bottled it and bought a jap bike at the last minute.

I'm considering returning to the biking fold after a 19 year wife-enforced ban. I went to look at a used Ducati 999 (my last bike was an old 900SS) and ended up rather falling for one of the new Aprilias in the showroom. There are quite a few 05 bikes around in the showrooms it seems, the standard RSV1000 is £7k in my local dealers, with the rather beautiful Factory at £8.5k
Not much more dosh than the 3 year old Ducati I went to look at and a bit more class than the equivalently priced (but admittedly fab) Japanese machines IMHO.

The TVR will be much more fun in a couple of months when the weather, hopefully, turns. I've just sold my T350 & don't really miss it at all, yet.
Personally, I'd keep the TVR for 6 months. Get out on a few track days in it, etc, etc. You'll love it.
Can you not buy a cheaper bike as well ?

Have to agree with that one. Do a summer in the car first then decide if you want to get rid of it. You'll need good weather to remember why you bought it in the first place. If a cheap bike is also an option then you get the best of both worlds.
If I didn't have to commute on it I'd be tempted by a 916-999... whichever falls into your price bracket.
I test drove a 4.0l chim and found that it didn't light my fire at all. A v8 westfield is much closer to bike performance and cheaper than your griff so if you could afford both you'd be grinning pretty much all the time imo.

Where do you start?! Do you want a screaming in-line four or a more soulful twin? (or a triple, just to make the decision more difficult!). Do you want the lightness and agility, but lower power, of a 600, or the easier-to-access power of a litre bike? Do you want easy and cheaper maintenance (Japanese) or take a risk on something more exotic (not that they will necessarily be any more of a risk as reliability issues are not what they were on, say, a Ducati)?
I love my 996 BP (though wish it were a 998S) and the feel-good factor of owning it is enormous.
My recently-sold GSX-R 750 was a blinding bike and could well offer the best of many of the above.
Aprilia RSV-R has to be worth a look too.
This week I've seen both the new R6 and new GSX-R 600 - both fantastic-looking!
Then you have a used 'blade, R1, GSX-R 1000, ZX-10R, SuperDuke, Speed Triple . . . oh the choice!
I love my Chimaera, but even that can't beat the feeling you get when you open the throttle of a bike or sweep through a bend . . .
Power - you've just got to love it!
