R1 has to be worth about £3,500 to £4,000, so he's offering you between £4,100 and £4,600 for your 12R. Does that seem enough?

Cheers
Matt

Looking through Bike trader the deal seems OK. Do you want the R1 though? I did this a while back when I sold my Hayabusa. Did a private p/x with a chap for his SP-1. I didn't really want the SP and ended up selling it soon after.

If the deal sounds good to you and it's what you want, then go for it

All the best
Matt

It's funny i've had both the bikes you've spoken about there:-)I've just never really got on with the ZX12R,i thought like any other bike you get it takes a while to settle into them,it's just never happened?I feel like im sitting 'on top' of the ZX,i just felt that the seat would eventually take to the shape of my boney little arse but it's never happened. This guy just called me out of the blue an offered me this deal, only thing that worries me he's called just when i'd reduced the price to try and get it shifted:-/I'm even selling it on this fine site's classifieds section for £3800 and nobody's biting??

I've owned both. The deal doesn't sound bad but the swap isn't so good unless you're a short arse. I used to think I looked cool on my R1, until I saw the pictures, it looks like I'm riding a mini moto! The ZX12 is the only proper sportsbike for taller riders. The R1's have a solid mid range punch but over 120mph the ZX12 will pull away with increasing ease. Ok, that's an argument for the R1 these days!

If you're over 6ft, 14 stone, and do long journeys I'd stick with the ZX12. To spice things up get a full Acropovic (or similar) and a power commander. It's pricey but sounds unique, you get blue flames on the overrun and 180bhp at the back wheel. Not even the 2006 R1 gets close to that!

I'm 6ft 3 so i don't think i'll be going down the mini-moto path then:-)Do you get other seats for the ZX?It's the profile of the seat i can't get on with, high at the back and slopes lower to the front,my arse wants to be at the rear at the top of the slope:-)How in the hell i don't have a huge gaping hole in the arse of my leathers god only knows with all the shuffling around i do.

Stick with the 12...170 odd bhp with an exhaust is an amazing figure...
Stick 1 tooth smaller on the front sprocket for about £9 and you will have an utter wheelie monster that will still do around 170mph...negating the need for an R1...
...Trust me on the front sprocket....

Now imagine the picture above with a titanium exhaust. It goes all bluey around the welds over time with heat and makes a an unbelievable noise - and spits fire! Watching my bike on the dyno run was one of the most awesome sights and sounds I've ever experienced. You can get different seats. They don't look as good but should make you more comfortable. The french are really into aftermarket seats and there are loads of them out here. After a while they look normal like that. I don't know any websites but the back of mcn should steer you in the right direction.
