Right;-

Prefer V twin/four, got to accelerate hard, handle reasonably well, carry 2 people + luggage with ease. Lowish top speed. Unfaired or faired.

Dilemas. I fear the call of a sports tourer, or maybe even the dreaded cruiser-tourer...

Why? because we want to do Europe in comfort next year, and don't want to get nicked for any more warp-speed madness!

oops, I see there is already a thread like this. Oh well, time to add more detail;-

Really don't want a 'Wing, or any too much plastic. There. Find me a bike!!

Sounds spookily like a VFR to me

You could try a Ducati tourer, not bad by all accounts. Or if you're not so keen on blatting everywhere on the autoroute, what about a (shock horror) Harley? Take the normal roads and really get to know the country, not just bits of it connected by fast roads.

I like the look of the new VFR, it looks quite sporty.
They have had quite good write ups but not sure how comfy they are for a pillion.

Is there somewhere where could rent one for the time you are touring then you could keep what ya got.Just a thought.

Tried a VFR and loved it. Was all set to buy one but the Mrs (who also rides) found it too high for her tiny little legs. To my surprise she can manage a Triumph Sprint ST (yes I know it looks bigger but she's happy so that's OK) - so we got one and it'll be great for touring with teenage daughter on the back - whichever of us is on the front - so it should please everyone.

One of the mags said the light are bad, but ours have been sorted so both come on on dip and are fine now.

Get the ZX12R - you know it's what you need. I got one last year, although touring was not quite what I had in mind. What a brilliant (and fairly quick) bike. In all seriousness though, I would not want to tour on it as the tingling vibration gets painfully to parts other bikes don't reach.

I've decided. Almost. You're likely to be appalled..! but it's this, or NO bike at all.

Yes, and no.

And the nitrous kit is serious, by the way. Just got to check the options.

What's strange about a touring-cruiser type thing? still faster A->B than a car, still 2 wheels, and less likely to get me banned !!!?

VN 1500 I thought you wanted comfort? All you'll get is shaken to bits and flys in your teeth!
Get a Busa and drive slowly It will still get you there more quickly than a VN.
PS Nirous on a VN I doint think so youll need to take a big bag to pick up engine parts from the road!
