Has anyone ridden both, and can give a comparison, so I can decide if I want to get a test ride on one or both of them (Of course I would love to try both, but its getting the time free when they are available !!)

cheers
Tony

I've only ridden one of them so I'm biased but go for the Sprint ST. Had mine for a year now, no probs at all. Very comfy, very reliable, including 600 mile days on a trip to the Alps. Don't have time to write a big response as work is busy but if you have any specific questions about it then email me through my profile.

P.S. Triumph have fixed the dodgy luggage boxes and are in the process of replacing them all at the moment.

The Triumph, without a doubt; in my opinion. Far more reliable, no cam belts to worry about etc. If in doubt, test both.
Desmo.

Have to concur here.
Never ridden the Duke but my 99 (T) Sprint ST is comfortable, quick, reliable, and amazingly good on fuel too. Can get 230 miles per tank if ridden sensibly.
Normal comparison is with the VFR rather than the Duke. Rode a VFR and found the Triumph FAR Superior.

The Duke can do all of those except one. And the 916 engined ST4 is no slouch. The handling of the STs is very good - plenty good enough for knee down action.

The servicing is expensive, though. Mine cost me over £800 inc a pair of tyres, on one ocassion. Annual OR 5000 mile belt changes, whichever is sooner.

Have to say, the Duke is prettier than the Triumph....never liked the headlight arrangement.
