bt014s or diablos
Discussion
come on people what do u reckon??
I have a triumph daytona 900 - it maybe a big old bus but i do ride it quite hard. Normally I stick with bridgestones but the 014s only last 2000 miles, can't seem to get 010s any more and the 020s are too hard (besides i only get 3500 miles from them).
I've heard a lot about diablos, especially the corsas but want to know if they really are any better than the 014s with respect to grip and lifespan?
Fast riders only please- no offence but if u get 6k out of your tyres and have big chicken strips then you're riding very differently to me and so your opinion won't be much help.

I've just replaced the old ones again with PPs on the Speed Triple 900. Considerably better than the TX21/23s I remember when I first had a new Speed Triple in 1994. Much more grip in the wet.
I have only tried BT014s on demo bikes but they get a good write up and seemed okay.
Riding GSXR 1000 which eats tires in 2K miles. I used to get 3+K from a front but now I tend to change both as a pair because for some reason the front will not last for two rear's worth (since diablos). I'm running a 190 rear
I didn't like the 208GP on mine, it could have been because the majority of the miles were in cold / overcast conditions.
Metezler rennsports (road compound), superb tyre for warm dry days on track or road. 2 rears and one front (just lasted)
Diablo Corsas, good and fairly close to the rennsports. The rear cut up badly at Donnington when new (2mm of tread left at 45 degrees, 4-5mm on the crown), and felt a little funny after that as the profile was fubared!
Just started with Diablo supercorsas (SC1 front, SC2 rear) and they are more sensitive to pressures. Terrible in the rain but summers coming. Beginning to cut up with just road riding so I won't be getting track compunds again.
If you do trackdays, I'd say get supercorsas or rennsports (if still avail), if only on the road you won't go wrong with the Diablos or Diablo corsas

Supercorsas and rennsports are very similar (Pirelli do own Metezler) with rennsports having slightly less %age tread. Diablos and Diablo Corsas are the same (more wet weather) tread pattern and are nothing like rennsports. Good road tyres though.
Supercorsas and rennsports also come track compounds called SC1/SC2 fronts, SC1/SC2/SC3 rear (pirellis) and a similar set up for the metezlers but I can't remember what they swap the 'SC' for.

Metz Sportec M3's might be good. Loved their M1's as fast road and trackday tyres but the rears disappeared quickly. The Pirelli Diablo is based on the same technology but I got loads more life out of the rear than the M-1 for some reason. The Diablo Corsa is a sticky version of the same and if you do permanently give them a hard time they spookily last longer than the "road" Diablo.
Sticky road tyres are best at the 'Ring - you don't need max grip there.
Rennsports and Supercorsaa are production race tyres and nigh on identical save for the tread pattern. Good for £30 to £40 a set out of the garages at club meetings as s/hand race tyres and ideal for trackdayers. Less amusing when your sellng them for that money after less than 50 miles
