Don't know if there was anyone else off here there yesterday but what a day.

The weather was fantastic, which for a novice like myself just inspires confidence in the bends.

By the end of the day I was just feeling like I was getting to know what I was doing (although still making a few obvious mistakes, normally involving going too fast into certain corners & therefore too slow out).

Can't wait for next one !!! (hopefully end of month)

For all you that have never done a track day I cannot stress too much how much fun they are. GO DO ONE (or more obviously).

Couple of pics from photographer on site:

And a couple of the back tyre which is nearly starting to look like I should (note: I said 'nearly', still must try much harder )

Mate.....Many congrats on that tyre....It's fantastic!!!

Was the track busy, or are they strict on numbers?

They ran 3 sessions:

* Novices
* Intermediates/Advanced
* People with race licences

Think there are 20 people in each group & you go out in 20 minute sessions.

Even though the weather was brilliant yesterday there was still a few places available in the novice group.

Just looking on t'internet now for next date.

Judging by tyre, I would say you had a good day. I have done caddy a few times, I used to live in Louth, which is 5 minutes away.

From my experience, great instruction prior to beieng let loose, all the advise you want from friendly instructors, they'll follow you round and give you pointers on track and the luuurvely Andrea to look at from time to time ( she is the lass who does the driving licence checks and then poses in the sun most of the day) (I can get away with this cus she is a friend !!)

In the sun Cadwell is grin inducing day out !

(For a few hundred you can use thier bikes, leathers, boots & lid and have an instructor, for a first timer it's well recommended IMO)

Great pics and glad you had a good time.

How quick did you find yourself going? Were there riders roasting past you or was everybody similar?

Snetterton is my closest track - just waiting for my leathers from Crowtree and I'll book myself in...

Respect the tyre shots, looks like you were giving the bike some

The track is really the place to learn - guess it makes you quicker and safer on the road as you have the chance to really know the bikes limits.

Nice one matey.

Now you need to work on your tyre pressures and find out what all those strange bits (adjusters) on the suspension do!

No propper wheelies this time?

Lowered the pressures a bit in the afternoon (remembering what you'd said before).

As for the suspension, I have no idea no just don't touch it. Maybe worth taking it to someone for sorting, but in all honestly seems ok at moment.

You were there earlier in week in the BM weren't you ? Have a good day ?

PS Some bloke came of. Must have been doing well over 100. He was fine, but the bike

It you're up for another day I looking at end of this month or early June.

I was/am in the novice group. This group is for novices & first time track day-ers.

What you find is a 1/2 the group is people like myself. Inexperienced riders in general. The other 1/2 being first time tracker, but may have been riding years & years & therefore are quite handy.

In my group thier was a guy on an old norton who was remarkably quick through the corners but got left behind on the straights.

All I'm saying is that not all novices are novices.

Ah - looked like they overheated, this explains it. I mentioned it when we were there in the cool/damp. Looks like it was very different - warm. When it's warm, a bit more pressure will stop them overheating as much. Get an accurate guage first though

No, problems at work, so couldn't make it.

I'm there on the 26th in the evening. Sent you a mail with another very cheap date (can't make myself, but thought you'd be interested).

I've often wondered if you can just turn up on the day and if there's space pay up and join in.I don't enjoy riding in the wet and don't fancy paying £89 for nothing, and what about noise limits ?, would I get on the track with the akra on my R1.

Dunno about just turning up - focused events normally seems to sell out beforehand and they can't guarentee that the payee won't turn up.

As for the exhaust, you'll be fine. Most have aftermarkets.

You can turn up and sign the 'reserve' list, which means if someone who has paid doesnt turn up or if there is a spill and someone doesnt want to or cant continue.

I know it is a bit harsh to benefit from someone elses misfortune.... Its usually half price to join mid session. I have met a few 'locals' who do this at Cadwell. Rain is quite likely at Caddy, the lincolnshire wolds can attract some shite weather !!

I've ridden Cadwell plenty in the wet and it's good practise for the roads. So long as you tune your head in and ride sensitively.

Nothing quite like spinning the rear down park straight as you cross the river that forms at the bottom

Hobo, I had my suspension done by Darren at MC Technics in Stowmarket,.....Honestly, the difference is amazing....So, much more confidence....So much in fact, I binned it 10 mins later! Seriously though, it made a huge difference to the bike.

In all honesty Chilli, I don't really feel the need for it changing as yet.

I intend doing loads on track days, and must admit on track, with my skills, the bike feels awesome, so don't see how changing it would help me at the moment.

Might start a new thread about suspension set to see what people say on the topic.
