Hi there guys, am new to this forum, so apologies if its in the wrong place ive posted this!

I had a dna 125 and some div decided to reverse into the back of it, in anycase insurance paid out and i bought a new one off ebay last week.

So i set out on a 40 mile journey to collect the bike, give the dude the cash and leave the bike running while im counting the money. It runs fine. I then ride off and for the first mile and a half it was nice and smooth, but i could smell burning, smelt like paint burning... (he had resprayed the exhaust!!)

In any case all the service etc was in order and MOT has only been passed a week ago, a mile and a half in i got stranded as i breaked the bike cut out on me completely when i revved it.

So i pulled over switched the bike off and restarted it again, it was fine running again, however when i took it off the stand it switched off again. I started it again, it wouldnt start just merely kept trying to, eventually it did and when i revved it, the engine cut out again!!! So i got off and noticed some sort of oily fluid leaking from the centre bit under the helmet storage tank was leaking this fluid. From what a mate says he believes its gearbox fluid, but i have no idea.

My concern is if i kept teasing the throttle the bike would switch on, however eeerytime i breaked it cut out on me again.

I have no idea whats wrong with it, the sellers f'd me off by being useless!

I had to wait three hours for a mate to come up with a van so i could take the damn thing back to london. However while i was waiting i tried to start it up again, and the rear wheel seems to be going in reverse!!! AHH

I dont know whats wrong with it as being a previous dna owner for a year and a half i never had this problem, i had it cut out on me on dual carriageways but that was a fuel injection problem which i sorted.

Anyone with any ideas?? Would really appreciate any ideas as to what could be wrong..

So to summarize... Bike starts and when stationary is fine, any gentle tug of the throttle the bike either cuts out or the back wheel spins in reverse...

And there is a leak of some sort, believe gearbox fluid...

Thanks guys!!

So what did the guy you purchased it from say when you told him about the problems?

When you bought it, did he say that it was all in working order?

It's a 4 stroke right - does it run carbs? Sounds like it could be a blocked idle jet.

He basically said that it was fully working, no problems at all, I even asked him if it cut out at all when he was riding it, to which he told me it never had. When i contacted him he said that it was nothing to do with them and there was nothing they could do, as it was sold in good faith and that it had run fine when he rode it the day before back from the mot station, he also said it was running while i was talking to his son, therefore it was perfect working order!! A whole lot of f'in good faith. I did nothing to the bike except ride it... He has sprayed the exhaust, anyone think that might be a problem? Seems like black thick paint!

He hasnt even filled out the log book apart from sign it and handed me the whole thing.

I did threaten to take him to court, but i have no idea how i would go about it...

And if not any ideas on how much it will cost? Im soo dissapointed, i just want to get the bike back on the road, i have no transport at mo!

Unlucky mate I'm the only other DNA owner on here, although its just a 50 Had problems with mine cutting out recently (on a dual carriage way as well!!!), can I ask how you fixed it?

As for your problem, make sure you get screen shots or print off a copy of the ebay ad as soon as possible in case you need it to prove what the seller said. Hope you get it sorted soon

By the way, what colour is your's? I hear red is the fastest

Lol hello mate, yeh i read your thread! Well basically when i first went for a long ride on a dual carriageway the bloody thing cut out on me, and i had the same loss of power you mentioned. The way around it is, release the throttle and give it a gentle tease, you basically have to effectively bite it at the point where it is cutting off. Do this a whenever it tried to cut out. Mine kind of dissapeared after i did this for about a week!...

In terms of what colour the bike is, i dont think this affects the speed lol? I had the blue 125cc, and now have the black... Both the same, except one worked, and then some mong reversed into me, and the second which a mong sold me !

Thanks for the tip, I'll try that!

As for the colour, you always get arguments in the TVR forum about which colour is fastest (you're new here though ). Anyway, mines got 2 go faster stripes so it'll be way faster than yours
