Just had a knock on the door. My next door neighbour has just knocked my bike over. Fortunately it fell in to the garden and seems ok apart from a very small scrape on the crash bung and a dented end can.

So, what do you lot reckon? Will it be cheaper to fit an aftermarket exhaust? If I do will it kill the value of my bike. The bikes a Kawasaki Z750 (2005). Any advice apreciated.

Thanks,

Phill

He was very apologetic. Had he not be he would have fallen somehere in the middle of next week, but hey hum accidents happen and as long as he pays for the end can I'm happy.

Anybody where I can get a cost for an oem end can off the net?

Also I've found a viper alloy oval race can on fleabay for 140 quid delivered and a carbon one for 200 quid. What do you reckon?

Thanks,

Phill

Aftermarket will be a LOT cheaper , go to a kwackasacki dealer and ask them for a price on a new can , make sure you put a mattress on the floor behind you , I got told a new end can for my old ZX6R J1 was £450

I certainly am glad about the crash bungs, and yes it was the brand new exhaust. I was actually surprised about how calm I remained.

I've got a quote for a new oem exhaust for £415 plus £25 fitting. I'm considering giving him 2 options, either putting it through the insurance for the full value, or he can give me £200 cash and I'll sort it myself with an aftermaket end can.

What do you reckon? Any suggestions RE end cans?

Thanks,

Phill

I would suggest you let him know the price of the new OEM can then ask if he'd rather it was an insurance job or would he like to pay cash - with a bit of a discount, and let you fix it? Let him suggest the cash amount as he may well offer more than £200 but don’t accept less. (Remember, his insurance excess, plus the potential loss of no claims/risk of policy loading may well be worth more to him than £200)
