She's back today!!!!!

So after waiting since the end of March'ish (I think)she's coming home tonight. I was given two delivery options by the repairers...One of 22:00 last night or 18:30 tonight. Who the hell is gonna have their bike delivered in the dark...How the heel are you supposed to inspect it? I remember someone on here signing for their bike only then to see scratches etc....
If anyone remembers (or cares) I located a replacement part myself, although the wrong colour, I bought it and had it delivered to the repairers. Then on the day that my part was due to be delivered I get a call form them to tell me that the part had just arrived, but there is a twist. "Oh yeah"? Well, turns out "the boss" had done some investigations of his own and managed to source the exact part which was delivered on the very same day mine was.......Funny that. I was a bit peed off, but having the bike back was the main thing.
Anyways, I made a complaint through my insurers about the lengh of time it's taken, and actually suggested they review the original quote/pricing. I'll wat another 6 months before I hear anything....... Roll on Spain!

Hard to believe how long it's taken. At least it's coming back tonight.
If I were you, I'd take it for a short run up the road before signing for it, Just to make sure it feels right.
I'd be interested to know who was responsible for this fiasco. (I live in Essex as well)

As mentioned take it for a spin when you get it just to check it over & also go over it with a fine tooth comb.
Put spare part back on flea-bay.

I was gonna suggest I'll knock for ya on the way to the track, but now I've seen your bike...I guess you'll be with the "big boys"!!
The 1000 is seriously fast (really easy to see 160mph or 170mph
) but still really manageable - my confidence isn't as high as I'd like in the corners. I find that I'm running wide which basically means I'm not counter steering or leaning hard enough. So, still loads to learn but I think the only way to improve is on the track where the threat of an HGV wiping you out is a little less

Many thanks. Yep, she's back...but a had a couple of issues.. The quote stated that the fuel tank was to be removed and re-painted. This wasnt done. Also the screen hadn't been put back on properly, so my neighbour did this. Also, the bloke that delivered it said that someone had taken it out and it rode like new...Really, then how come theres still thick mud on both tyres??
Apart from that I'm just happy to get her back. I got the train in this morning, as I need to get back into the swing of things before the daily commute begins. Still, I'm going out on an advanced rid with my group tomorrow (ELAM) where the focus is on cornering!!

The track will teach you how a bike handles and how to ride it properly, but it won't teach you roadcraft, i.e. anticipating a possible problem scenario and making sure it doesn't happen to you. I'd contend that good roadcraft is as likely or more to save your a$$ from an HGV. However, it all depends what you want out of your riding - some folks ride track only and as you say there are rather fewer hazards to deal with on the track. If you're serious about your road riding though, it's worth getting some road training as well as track training. Anna (s2rrkitty) recommended a course she did with an ex plod class 1 rider, but I can't remember the details.

Very wise words. Track days can be great fun and you can learn a lot about how to handle a bike. However, they are no substitute for advanced road training.
