I'm off to the Ring this weekend and i hope to get a dry ride around the circuit.
Has anyone been there that could advise on how strict they are with noise limits?
Cheers

You may want to check out

http://nurburgring.org.uk/

if you’ve not already found the site. May well have something about noise levels. Is this your first visit?

Have a great time.

Yes, this is my first visit and i have seen that and many other good sites.
Official noise limit is 95dba however some sites say this is not adhered to like they do over here at our circuits.
Just wondered if anyone who has been may have experienced any noise test being carried out.

They do not strictly enforce the noise limit, but if you think that you are well over the 95, dont draw attention to it in the car park, & leave it until the end of the main straight before giving it big licks.

Marvellous circuit but watch those blind crests!!

I’m sure you will have a great time but do watch out for the “local lads”, who seem to spend much of their weekends “honing” their skills on the ‘Ring. They will be considerably faster than you, regardless what you/they are driving/riding and they will expect you to keep out of their way. Keep a very close eye on your mirrors.

It will be very busy this wk end, look in yr mirrors v regually & keep right when you see a car, coz a regular in a crap old hatchback will be a LOT LOT faster cornering than you & despite you being monster fast on a straight you will be holding them up.

Noise limits yes can be enforsed mainly at wk ends, particually on bikes & you wont be allowed on if you fail, I know they sould gay but stock cans best to minimise the risk if you have them.

Im there on weds.

I'm there on Monday so hopefully it wont be so busy.
Fully expect the locals to be quick, there is no substitute for track knowledge!!!
Mirrors, guess i'll be using those more than normal.
Been watching some vids and seen how close it gets when something quick wants to get past.
Shame the Ring Taxi isn't running on Monday, that would have been fun.
I'll kep the revs low in the car park and away from the start.

Do you get any breifing before you go on the track? ie, as you say, stay to the right to let someone pass.

No briefing. There are some signs (in Germany) giving the rules, but it's up to you to know them in advance. Have a good trawl through Ben Lovejoys site as all the rules and much very good advice is given there.

If you are there for more than 1 day, do check that any tickets you buy will work on more than the day of purchase. Some of our group were caught out when they decided to save the last of their tickets until the next day only to find they were no longer valid.

- noisy bikes ARE randomly tested
- tickets (=> 6 laps) should be valid unil the end of the calendar year
- it is hosing it down all w/e, not an ideal introduction at all
- if you do go, you should try and get at least a couple of pax laps in a car before you go out alone
- as Iggy said, you MUST overtake on the left
- watch out for over zealous drivers getting VERY close to you on some of the slower bends
- stay off the kerbs as they're VERY slippery in the wet
- go at your own pace and don't attempt to follow people unless you've agreed this with them in advance

I've been going since 98 and have done around 750 laps, and it never fails to amaze me with some of the driving standards you see (either no awareness of traffic behind (unfortunately applies to lots of UK riders) and aggressive driving (mainly German drivers in 911 and BMWs)).

Build up slowly, or even take a quick ride around the circuit to the various vantage points [http://hocheichen.free.fr/images/nurb] to see some more of the circuit and the way it's driven before venturing out.

Personally, I'd pick a non UK bank holiday weekend, with better weather. Check out the webcam link on Ben's site for an idea of the current conditions....
