Seem to be getting into this trackday malarky so was thinking about investing in some tyre warmers as sessions only seem to last around 7/8 laps of which 2 are used warming the tyres up.
There seems to be loads of makes around but each one states that its 'theirs' which are used in MotoGP. Which are decent & how much should they cost ?

I used to use Motrax tyre warmers. I think I got them new for about £120, but that was a special deal. They were good quality and never let me down. I used Diamond Security tyre warmers before that, but they did let me down once which certainly makes for an interesting first few laps of a race.
I think if you can be bothered with putting them on and taking them off then they are a fantastic asset on trackdays. My record from leaving the pits to going knee down was at Brands, leaving the pits at Surtees and going knee down after 20 or 30 yards of track.

Thats what I'm doing at present (although my 'loopy' is probably that 'loopy').
BUT, between a quarter & a third of your tracktime is used warming the tyres which is a tad annoying.
I already have a genny so it seems stupid not to buy some for what they cost.
Out of interest HWW is literally only a few miles away from me. Are their's any good ?

I know they cost almost twice as much as the Motrax ones. I vaguely recall from my time around the paddock that they have a thicker higher quality feel to them. That said, if it's just for trackdays, you might as well just get Motrax ones for half the price. See here for details:

Whats the point ? do a couple of steady laps and build the heat up before going loopy . costs nothing
Tyres don't neccesarily wear on the track, but they do go through heat cycles constantly if they are allowed to got hot and cold all day. Tyre warmers reduce this as they keep the tyres at a reasonably constant heat throughout the day. This in turn allows the rider to get the best out of the tyres for longer. Even more important if you are running wets or slicks. Tyres arn't cheap and warmers help make them last longer.
Well just bought a set of HWW tyre warmers (normally £270 a set).
Ended up doing a deal on a pair & a 2.8kva honda generator, £400 for the lot. Bargain (generator must be £250 on its own).
If anyone else is after a set & also needs a generator he said he had 5 more gen's left & would do the same deal.

I think I got a better deal as I am collecting, but still.
