anyone out there own or been on one ??

im thinking of getting one, it will be a first bike ok ok its still a fast machine but i feel im sensible enough to get used to it and not go full speed without the skill.

im not into all the knee down biking thrills just want a nice cruiser for sunny days.

any advise would be appreciated

I wouldn't underestimate them - I saw one at Snetterton on Sunday in the inters group and he was holding his own, up to a point, against some pretty serious machinery

the shop i went to the other day had both orange and green and both looked fantastic, both had belly pan on.

As always - get a ride first and see what you think. I just bought one a couple of months ago and laugh every time I ride it! It's a blast! Great riding position (slightly uncomfortable seat), wide bars for good leverage, excellent visibility over cars as you're sitting upright, good power and not as weak low-down as I'd been led to believe, a rush over 7000rpm and so on. I have Akrapovic cans which sound fantastic - quite low and bassy, but suitably loud too. The OE cans are ridiculously heavy and also sap the power. Unless I want to get my head down and go for a serious blast, the Z1000 takes care of everything else and is brilliant in town/low speeds. Get a ride and see what you think!

I know I'm biased, but have you thought about a Z750, plenty fast enough for a first bike, cheaper both to buy and to insure.

Just a thought.

The Z750 is a real fun bike. I had one as a loaner whilst my Aprilia was being serviced. Over 1 unit it felt a bit woolly but then I've ridden nothing but sportsbikes.

I love the looks of the Z1000, including the exhausts. By comparison, the Z750 looks very much the poor relation.

Oy dave. My Z has got a Z1000 screen, a tail tidy and small indicators. Together with my new zorst it looks fantastic and sounds fabulous. So there!
