You might remember that over a month ago I asked if anyone could recomend a company that does Track day fairing. Well After ordering over a month ago and several phone call's to Repli**** still no sign of fairing and what makes it worse I scratced it at Silverstone the other week!!!Please can anyone suggest a company that will get me a set of fairing for 03/03 R1
Thanks,Cp

This may be a really silly question but are track day fairings legal on roads ? I assume because they have covered lights that they are not, but in daylight hours ?

Also, how easy switchable are stock fairings & race fairings ? Is it something you could do quite often or would if just be a complete ball ache ?

As far as I'm aware they can be legal as you can get a daytime only MOT which means you don't actually need lights! I guess you could have two MOTs one for when the track fairing is on and a full one for when the normal fairing is on...

Hi Guy's,
I don't use the bike on the road, so I will be turning it into a full on Track bike.

Track day fairings are legal on the UK roads. However, I'm not sure what you need to do with lights and indicators and stuff to get things legal.

Fitting a race fairing is a pain in the arse the first time that you do it since they mostly arrive as a jelly mould of the original with few mounting brackets and no holes drilled. If you can be bothered to build quick releases into both your road and race fairings you could speed up the process, but on the whole, swapping fairings takes a fair bit of time, not much skill and a little patience.

I did put up a reply that if you wanted a seconhand set to put a post up as I know someone who was getting rid of a set: Harris fairing, seat unit and a tank all sprayed up the same colour, slightly scratched for £100 all in but I didn't spot a reply. If you are still stuck pop a reply below and we'll work out some contact info (don't think you can private mail on this forum?).

If you wanted to hang out for a newie then try BB Plastics. I haven't got their number to hand but they are now run by SDC Performance (01438 357777) and have tunred fairings out in days for cartwheeling racer types IF they have mould for that bike.

My mate ran his on the road with the standard rear light fitted but no lights in the front and never got pulled but you tend not to go to to the heavily policed bike meets when they're in that sort of spec anyway...
