Sorry guys I know nothing about bikes I feel of one when aged about 16 and have not been back on one since. However my other half has requested I purchase her a cheap scooter so I am trying to pick up some info.

ebay seems to list many new and very cheap scooters but I wonder if these deals are too good to be true?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BRAND-NEW-50cc-

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Baotian-4-strok

Are they any good or plainly a rip off that will result in me having to by another within weeks?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks
Sam

They may be great but, how easy will it be to get spares? Where will you get it serviced? If they are the sole importer and you need to take it back to them for service you could spend a lot of time travlling to and from.
Most towns have cheapy scooter shops I'd buy locally so at least you can take it back if is a dud.
Loads more costly but the daddy of scooters used to be the Peugot Speed fight. Loads of tuning bits for them. Not that I would condone anybody tuning a restricted scooter as that would be wrong.
Or see if Southpaw has fixed his scooter and wants to flog it.

Pretty much fixed (long story), selling asap - not advertised anywhere yet as I've still got to transfer my plate off - pic in my profile and email me if you want some more details Doesn't look like a crappy scooter either

Hi Sam, Looked at getting a Boatian last year for my son because of the low price. Saw one in real life and it may well have been good for the money but the build quality not so good and it just felt 'flimsy'. Bought a 4 year old Peugeot instead.

Is he now looking to upgrade to a nice shiny DNA50?

If she is reasonably competent with gears I would advise against getting a scooter but instead look at small bikes as a bike gives you a lot more control and in my opinion they are a lot safer.
